| You know how, in airports, you have to check in 2 to 3 hours beforehand? They reckon it's because they've a lengthy process to go through between check in and boarding.
We all know that's rubbish - it's to get you spending money in their shops, cafes and bars. The earlier you are, the more you'll spend, basically.
Would it not benefit Wigan RL to offer a slightly discounted entry price - say about 20-25% to people who enter the ground more than an hour before kick off? The idea being that those who arrive earlier will spend more at the bar and the pie stands. It would be particularly useful for televised games, where the ground should, in theory at least, look fuller when the coverage starts.

The club gets no revenue from that.

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

Last time I looked, they got a hefty discount anyway, if you compare it with someone who pays on the door for every match. Two or three matches free, in effect?
Plus there are many other benefits, like first dibs on away and cup tickets for season ticket holders.

| but you have to lump up the money, its that not that big a discount as if someone turned up early every ga,e would be cheaper than a season ticket.

| Plus I NEVER buy anything from the bars/pie stands yet could come early and get my discount (if i didnt have a season ticket anyway) so it wouldnt work really coz most people wont buy more just coz theyre earlier theyd just use it to save money. Plus how would it work? Do they get a reduced ticket then if they're late pay more at the gate?

| Perhaps this might work - open up the North Stand and sell cheap tickets or give away tickets to deserving causes (even the poor Bradford fans!), then print a huge amount of T shirts with 'Wigan are bestest' or somesuch catchy slogan and sell them for a fiver or thereabouts. Surely that would raise some revenue for the club without Whelan profiting?

| But the 25% you're discounting on a ticket price is pure profit for the club. You don't make too much money on booze, although food you might.
If you knock a fiver off a £20 ticket, you'd need them to eat at least one (expensive) thing and drink a few pints to just break even on the discount I would think.
Pat Richards is poop. A typical, average, run of the mill NRL outside back. Nothing special at all. Like Barrett he is a myth. He is solid enough, he can catch, he can kick goals.[/quote:15kig0eg]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_7958.jpg |

If we reduce ticket prices and then try and sell a few t-shirts, im not exactly sure how we will be better off financially.
