I think they have been quite lenient with Mason even before he has been up before the disciplinary, he has been charged with deliberately stamping and running in in an aggresive manner to esculate a situation which should be two seperate charges. for him in particular it is the running in which will contribute mainly to any ban he gets as he was found guilty last year for running in and punching hansen on the back of the head. He ran in on this occasion (then went hiding) when at that point it had nothing to do with him as Fielden was merely pointing the finger at horne and griffin thinking it was them that stood on his foot.


What are peoples SENSIBLE thoughts on this??

As for the rest, it seems bout par for the course regarding the RFL, no consistency at all regarding charges or players from any club, bit of a farce if you ask me.

To be fair to Mason a lot of players ran in so it would be harsh to just single him out for that. Given what he originally did to Fielden, I think the RFL are trying to say he was the instigator of the incident and then decided to wind it up some more so will deal with it as a package.

I agree with the leniency. Any charge which starts with the work [iintentionaly[/i should carry a significanly longer ban than any charge starting with the words [icareless[/i or [ireckless[/i if found guilty.

In my opinion he did go hiding! he instigated the situation by running out of the line and made a beeline for Fielden then when fielden took offence and was clearly very angry (rightly so) he started throwing punches and Mason was nowhere to be seen.

Probably because the RFL don't want to ban players from play off matches.

Mason will surely get what he deserves. Anybody who was at the game or watched it will see that he certainly didnt go hiding for the rest of the game.

Good grief.... And we get accused of wearing tinted spectacles. Mason started it with a sly foot on Fieldens ankle, then after he had gone back to his line, and saw Fielden accusing the markers at the PTB, decided to run in and get another sly punch in, for which he has form. THEN others joined in... And If mason is such a hard man, and Fielden is a "soft touch", is there any merit in your "hardman" having a go at Fielden? Better to stay quiet and be thought an idiot than to open your mouth and prove it methinks......

I've watched the incident several times. Keith Mason was nowhere to be seen when the 'fists were flying' as Sam Tomkins & Sean O'loughlin had him by the collar. Mason just kept his head down and walked away. It was Darrell Griffin getting/giving all the flack.

The reason I feel such anger towards Keith Mason - apart from stamping on Fielden's ankle - is that he ran in and pushed Fielden. What had Fielden done? It was Mason who did the 'sh^thouse act' and not Fielden. This suggests to me that he just wanted to wind Fielden up. Dirty tactics, but it did the trick. Was it successful? Well Fielden had an excellent game for me - one of his best in a Wigan shirt. I don't think Wigan lost the match due to this incident or Mason's antics. It was because we didn't capitalise on all the possession and excellent field position we had. Ten breaks Wigan made in the first half, but we were only ten points up. Not good enough and Huddersfield were always within a chance.

IMO Keith Mason should be given a three match ban and a hefty fine. It was a digusting, dangerous and cowardly act that sets a bad example for any young children watching the game. It's not something the sport wants to associate itself with. Keith Mason should be made an example of IMO.
