Big car park for away fans on stadium way. I think it's £3.50. Do not park on the retail park.
there are a few places that are free to park on but it would be too complex to explain on an internet forum. Stick with the visitors car park.

Agreed. Then bring a book to read while you wait to get out at the end (or hopefully half way through the second half )

You'd have to get there early to get a space there though, I imagine it fills up pretty quick?

Chorley?? You're joking aren't you?
Junction 26 at Orrell on the M6 is what you need. You could also get off at junction 25 which leads to the same place, but it's likely you will be sat in traffic for longer there.

| travelling from Yorkshire and wanting to avoid traffic as much as possible, I've always parked on Swan Meadow Road, turned left past a night club on your right then a Nissan place on your left. All you need to do is walk across the bridge and just follow the canal past Wigan Pier to the ground. Its only about a 15-20 minute walk and you avoid the queues coming out of the main car parks. There's loads of space to park and its really easy to get back from there through Whelley and Aspull joining the motorway near the Reebok stadium, and on the way back in particular before you leave Wigan you'll find you're heading in the opposite direction to most match traffic in fact most times I get to and from the game with no queuing at all. I'm on my mobile so I can't put a map up or anything at the moment but seriously its really straight forward and apart from the odd time I've come from the Warrington side of town I've parked in the same place for the last 8 or 9 years without any problems. I'll see if I can get my laptop back from repair in time and send you full driving directions from the M62.

I do pretty much the same thing as you.
Never really hear the place of Aspull mentioned on here. Not much of rugby area?
