Morning all. I've just been checking out the playoff format, and I'd totally forgot the clubcall round.

Am I right in saying that 1st play 4th, and 2nd play 3rd, the winners go through to the club call semi finals, the losers of said games get to play the winners of 5th v 8th and 6th v 7th.

The whole choosing who we play thing is a joke as far as I'm concerned, and I'd completely forgot about it until just now. That said it's here and I wonder who we'll choose should we win our 1st game. I know it's impossible to say as we don't know who will finish where, but it's something to look at over the coming weeks.

what is the point of them? Just cos Sky want the biggest RL match of the season to be on Sky cos it would be the CC final otherwise? Pathetic.

I thought the clubs wanted the play offs too

I agree Dougy with a lot of the points you make about the Playoffs, as you have made many posts on the subject... The only thing why I think the Playoff have a place.. Is that because Superleague is so competative and even the best team slip up.. You can have a team, that loses to all the best teams around them both home and away but takes the title because they have beaten more of the poorer sides?

Would you say Wire were deserved champions(ie the best team in the comp) if they lost last week against us and then went on to win the league having won no games against leeds, wigan and saints??...

I enjoy the playoffs but agree that more should be made of the league champions...

I do not like the current format I much prefer the 6 team system, but the playoff system is a great way to round off a season for me and I think most of the fans.

I can see what your saying, but to have lost against us last week, then lost to Saints next week and still managed to win the league would be highly unlikely. Unlikely that they would have even have finshed 2nd. I always think about the season Arsenal went unbeaten all season in football, but lost to Chelsea with 5 mins to go in the Champions League. That could happen in RL. One 80 min game, one bad ref call could decide your season and you have nothing to show for it. Even Bradford in 1997, won the league at a canter but then Sheffield beat them in the Premiership playoffs. IMagine that Bradford team not being declared Champions!

totally bloody stupid system.

It would take a very good team to win it from 8 in SL where as in australia a team that finshes 8 has a good chance as there league/teams are far better than ours.

It's crucial we win our first game. Having to play at play off intensity for three weeks would take its toll.

It comes down to Leeds or Hull FC. It will most likely be Leeds, but obviously I would much sooner us play Hull!

Totally agree that 8 teams makes a daft system a farcical system.
For all the excitement we've had in the last few years under nobby in the play offs I for one would not have taken as much from a GF win then as I would IF we could win it this season. Just think about some of the arguments on here about poor performances, inconsistency, unattractive RL. How could it be right for a team to be called "the best" when their own fans have been having conversations like that throughout the season.
IF we win it this season it will be because we've been the best all season and deserve it, not because we've been coached to peak after six months of the season have passed.
