Quote Pie Eyed="Pie Eyed"It seems to me that Sam just added (yet) another string to his bow.
Play him in the halves or move him to FB - Doesn't matter.
It did seem strange though that at one point, we had 3 half-backs (TL, Sam, Deacs) and 2 hookers (Piggy, MMac) all on the field at the same time.
Back to Sam though - His tackling was awesome yesterday, he just seemed so determined not to let Quins get away with anything.'"
His defence did impress me. IIRC he dropped the ball bringing the ball back, but managed to get back and catch the Quins player. Goulding then at some point made an error and Sam got back and caught him. Our players are working for each other. One player makes a mistake and his team mates cover for him. Excellent stuff.
The only problem with Sam moving to fullback is Deacon didn't look outstanding at six. Playing out of position and just back from injury, but once Roberts is back I think we are stronger keeping Sam at six and moving Roberts to fullback with Goulding on the wing over Pryce IMO.
Next season however I think we would look a lot stronger with:
1. Sam Tomkins
2. Amos Roberts
3. Martin Gleeson
4. George Carmont
5. Pat Richards
6. Brett Finch
7. Thomas Leuluai
Rather than -
1. Amos Roberts
2. Darrell Goulding
3. Martin Gleeson
4. George Carmonht
5. Pat Richards
6. Sam Tomkins
7. Thomas Leuluai
Either way though we look very strong and I know some people will disagree with me. It's an excellent position to be in. Sam Tomkins can always move back to stand off once Finch leaves. Didn't Darren Lockyer play fullback for Brisbane for a few years before eventually moving to stand off?
