how come the rule of scoring a try from outside the field of play didn`t apply as in the Meli try, I know that no part of his body was touching the touchline but clearly he came out of touch when he went to score the try
This happened in an NRL game and the try was disallowed

He came back in the field of play but IMO he did not ground the ball.

In the NRL game the player took the ball from a kick from one of his team mates and was outside the field of play when the ball was kicked.

Meli kicked the ball for himself.

Feka should have run across him a little more, the slightest of touches on Meli would have prevented him scoring.

Not in the old sense of it he didnt (downward pressure) but under the rule where all you have to do is brush over the ball he did.

Watch that at full speed and tell me its a try. If you pause the camera as his finger brushes past the ball, of course it will look like he has control! The flipping camera is paused!

I think it was a try and it was a great piece of play by Meli. Meli can look really good at times and takes the ball up very well. The problem is the amount of stupid mistakes that he makes.
