With a conservative 20,000 crowd on Sunday this will push our average up to 15,367
and with Wire due to arrive within the next month we could easily achieve well over 16,000 average by the end of the season.

Stains on the other hand have played the majority of their big games at home already, so can only see that 11,988 slide down a bit!

Saints will see a big upsurge in their ticket sales tomorrow for the Wigan game, when they get their dole cheques.

We will in all likelyhood have the highest attendances in the league, come the end of the 2010 domestic season

Either way the original point is still valid as saints will never be as big as wigan (your attendances never matched our own in your 'glory years' between 2000-2007)

I'm really not into all this arguing about attendances business if I'm honest, I just find it a little bit pointless. I am, however, rather proud of Wigan's support especially in 2006.

As for the quote in bold (which I've edited for accuracy) we were actually over 2.5k ahead of a team that had been one of the top two teams in the sport in this country consistently in the summer era and who "prided themselves" on the entertaining, expansive brand of rugby they played whilst pundits waxed lyrical about their style and flair.

In the meantime more people were regularly turning out to watch largely unattractive, unentertaining, inconsistent and quite frankly frustrating rugby league. Perhaps we ought to re-visit this topic when/ if Wigan have had a full season anywhere near as good as some of those stains have had recently and see what the average attendances look like.
