Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust have launched a Touch Rugby league, which started on 15th March, at Wigan St. Pat's.

The aim of the league is to get fit and have fun, and what better way in Wigan than to play Touch Rugby!

The next Touch Rugby session will be held at 7pm on the 29th March 2010 at Wigan St. Pat's. At the next session, we will set up 2 leagues - Social and Competitive. This is so that people will play with people and against others at the same level they are at.

The session will begin with a warm up/mini training session of about 20 minutes. Then, the Competitive people will form teams (either Teams that they have previously formed, or on the night - don't worry, all people wanting to play competitively will be on a Team!) The Competitive Teams must nominate Captain's and think of a Team Name. Depending on how many Team's there are on the night, will depend on how many matches played, but don't worry, there will be plenty of opportunity for everyone to play, and get fit!

For the Social people, after the warm up, you will then have a more extensive training session, developing ball handling, running and basic touch rugby skills. There will then be the opportunity to play in mini touch rugby games, where again everyone will get the chance to play, and all for fun!!

And just because you choose to play in the Social league, this does not mean that you cannot develop and eventually play in the Competitive league, as your skills, and fitness develop.

Please note that just because you did not attend the Taster Session on the 15th March, this does not mean that you cannot attend further sessions. If you are interested in the Social League, you can turn up on any of the dates below. If you are interested in the Competitive league, there will be rules for Teams and their attendance at the Heats.

If you would like to enter a Team, or simply come along as an individual, either competitively or socially, please contact me, either via email or phone.

If there are any questions, please ring me, and I will help you as much as I can.

The dates for the Heats and the Finals are as follows;

29th March 7pm Heats Week 1
19th April 7pm Heats Week 2
10th May 7pm Heats Week 3
24th May 7pm Heats Week 4
5th June 2pm The Final

All at Wigan St. Pats.

As many of you will be aware the session last night had to be cancelled due to the poor British summer time weather (!!!) I apologise for any inconvenience this caused.

We have arranged for a Training Session to take place at 6.30pm on 8th April at Wigan St. Pats. The session is aimed at people who would like to develop their Touch Rugby skills, and for those who may have never played Touch before, but is open to all. For the players who are wishing to play in the Competitive League you are invited to come along and we will organise Touch Warm Up matches, to get you all in the mood for when the Heats start the following week! If you would like to come to this session please contact me so I can put your name down onto the list.

The session that should have been held last night will now be held on the 12th April at 7pm at Wigan St Pats. This will be the first week of the Heats for the Competitive Teams and it is important that if you wish to play in the Competitive league that you attend this session. If working time patterns restrict regular attendance of an individual you are able to adopt rolling team members.

IMPORTANT

Can you all please contact me either via email, on 01942 82 2590 or my mobile 07736 301 769, and send me your mobile number. It is important that I have your contact number so that if I need to inform you of any late in the day changes to the sessions I can do so quickly. Hopefully, the weather will pick up now and what happened last night won't happen again!

Please note my mobile number - you can get me on that number at any time (within reason!!)

Thanks to all, and please let me know if you would like to come to the Training Session next week.

See you all at the first week of the Heats on the 12th April!
