Like the idea myself and think it has made the NRL faster without making it sloppy. Would we have the funds to employ several more referees? Are there enough up to the standard?

Why can't they use those in-goal referees? Give them a bit more training and a bottle of Powerade before a game and they're ready to go.

£29.4M from Sport England might cover it. I don't think the ref's are on a massive wedge, it's the number of quality referees are the problem.

We're in a better position than the Aussies in that we could use the same ref twice as distance to travel isn't as big a problem.
Ganson & Silverwood could for example officiate the Saints/Wire game on Friday and then Silverwood & Thaler could ref our game.

We don't have 7 referees good enough in my view, never mind 14! Asking refs to double up is a non starter. You have to take into account the trips to France and I bet it's more demanding that you think!

Obviously when the Dragons are at home you lose 2 refs that weekend, but the point is that they have a controlling ref and a secondary ref. No reason imo why a ref couldn't control one game and be the secondary ref for another. |

Before we start this we need to get the touchjudge officials to grow a pair! How many times, do we the fans spot a knock on or a forward pass or even players offside, and the touchjudge who is five yards away cannot see it or doesnt want to interupt play due to his level of authority.
However if there is an incident like Pat's obstruction at Odsal then they are on the pitch straight away, waving their little flags.
I think this needs to be sorted first. The ref Child has stepped up well from being a touchjudge to a ref, however ref's like Ganson IMO are too arrogant to refer to a touchjudge.
