It was the awesome journalistic abilities of Robbie Paul & Iestyn Harris.

The main talking point seemed to be the referee and the inexpierience of Watkins who got over the try line twice yet failed to ground the ball correctly, i felt a bit sorry for Watkins who was literally inches away from scoring and it just goes to show that simple things like grounding the ball are not so easy at this level.

Perhaps things would have been different had Scott Donald played but you could say the same for Melbourne had Brett White and company been available. For me Melbourne were a lot smarter than Leeds and their superior kicking game really showed up in the second half.

Great game and anything but a trial game for Melbourne, they clearly wanted this badly.

Watkins should have scored both tbh and should be made to sit down and watch video's of players like Inglis, Hayne, Slater etc finishing trys for fun. In those 2 situations they would have got the ball in one hand so they could get it down infront of their bodies taking away some of the risk of going into touch before grounding the ball.

Those 3 players I mention are freaks in everything they do but that technique is a pretty simple one imo and it's not only players of that quality who finish trys like that. We saw Amos Roberts finish one from a similar position to what Watkins was in last night a couple of weeks back against Hull KR.

It's little things like that our players struggle with when it should be simple.

I remember the season that Edwards finished top try scorer, 93ish??, our lads were passing the ball to him when they were over the try line to help him get top scorer.
