| On reading Radlinski's book I noticed his choice of rugby league great i.e. Adrian Lam. As he said " an unexpected choice". What other unexpected choices would other players have picked?
Whilst not necessarily a rugby league great my choice for one of the hardest hitting tacklers I have watched was Denis Boyd. His hits were fiercesome. Any others to match?

| I used to love Mcginty for the hits he used to put on people.

Mick Cassidy was a great favourite of mine. Always seemed to hit way his weight and size.

| There were several unsung heroes during the 'darkness before the dawn' era of the mid/late 70s. Everyone knows about Ashurst, Vigo, Fairbairn, etc, but rarely mentioned are the efforts of two men who were wholehearted servants of the club at that time and possessed real quality: Bob Irving and David Willicombe.
I wouldn't class either as 'greats', but they were both very fine players, head and shoulders above many others of their time, and I will always have very fond memories of seeing them in the cherry and white.

Good call Cruncher. I always liked Danny Gardiner, mind you he could drop a ball!
Nicky Kiss was a really good player and also one of my favourites.

| For me it is Sam Panapa. Classy Classy player, scored tries in very important games (Penrith at Anfield - what a side step!! and the winner against Widnes in a difficult Challenge Cup Final). Played in almost every positon, some of his movements that led to tries were simply sublime!! To think we signed him from Sheffield as back up to our first team??!!! George Carmont reminds me a little of him I suppose. Many of his finest tries can be seen on the Wigan Reviews video tapes.

Well if we're going to be silly, Billy Melling and Terry Hollingsworth.

Also Dave Robinson, great tackler and a classy ball handler.
