| This saturdays game.
I havent seen Wigan supporters get this excited this early into the week for a long time. I dont just mean on thie forum but looking over facebook since yesterday its clear to see that this game means more to people than they realise.
For me, its everything that i have been missing from the game this season, there have been some games i simply havent wanted to be in attendence, but i have kept going with the head and waiting that the spark would re appear. And boy has it come back after the trip to KR on Saturday.
What does it mean to you, to beat the Saints in there own back yard to get to through to thr Grand Final....!

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.
Don't you struggle. Don't you fight. Don't you worry, cause it's your turn tonight!

| It means everything, the stage couldn't be better set, there's so many individual duels in the match and hopefully there be a little biff in there as well.
I of course hope we win and secondly hope we send Long out of saints on a downer.

| For me it would mark the long-awaited turn of the tide.
In two ways.
Firstly, our glory era was characterised by us nearly always winning these must-win matches, whereas the last few years have been characterised by us always losing them.
Secondly, while Wigan dominated the derbies of the 90s, Saints have clearly dominated the derbies of the 00s. We're now just about ready to change back.
Whatever the outcome of this game, people will still say it was a one-off, it won't mean anything in the long run, etc. But in truth it will mean an awful lot, especially if Wigan win. Even during our glory days, Saints occasionally beat us, and we them during their period of power. But this one REALLY matters. It wouldn't just get Wigan to a vital final, it would send Saints out of the season with no final appearance under their belt at all. Two very significant outcomes. I wouldn't go as far as to say that the power-shift would be complete, but it would strongly indicate that Saints are indeed on the wane and that Wigan may - just may - be on the way back.
From a Wigan perspective, a win on Friday would also rub out all memories of meaningless 75-0 drubbings, defeats at Old Trafford etc. All of that would be relegated to the bin of unimportant history. For a brief time at least, Saints will be the past again and Wigan will be the future. What greater motivation could a club have?

| This is possibly the biggest and best chance we have had of getting to a Grand Final since 2003. I am so excited it is unimaginable.

Great Post, but I'll just pick you up on that little mistake!
They may have dominated the "Derbies" since 2005 to end of 2008" but Not the 2000's !
We won far more than they did in that period!

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Biggest Derby since 2004!
There is so much riding on this game, I agree with what crucnher says.
Winning on saturday I feel will make up for so many disapointments it's not even true!
I have not been as excited about a game for so long!
Another poor season for us and rugby league could end with a bang

| Means everything to me. Giving up tickets to see 1 of my favourite bands whilst growing up, Stereophonics at cardiff castle just for a rugby game says alot. Not just for this season disappointment but for seasons gone by where we've seen stains have their moments of glory whilst we've had to sit back and watch and having our noses rubbed in it whenever we've suffered big losses to them to. I'm still not convinced were good enough to lift the trophy come Grand Final night should we get there but I do have a feeling we have what it takes to do the business on Saturday. It would be sweet to stop them from winning anything this year and a possible Grand Final win would make it even more sweeter.
