| Fittler was a legend in the Roosters shirt and was then tossed the coach's hat when the Chooks were struggling and everyone thought he would be the next coaching guru. The Roosters are in a dreadful state now and his reputation is ruined.
How could Wigan avoid this scenario with legends like Farrell and, possibly even, Edwards. I believe Farrell will come back and coach Wigan in some capacity over the next fews years. But how does the club nuture somebody like Farrell without breaking the bank to put him as reserve coach or throwing in him to fall flat on his face with a struggling side?

| How many players currently at Wigan played with him though?
I think a big problem of Fittlers is that he moved straight up and is coaching people he played with. It can be very hard to make that jump.

It's a very interesting question.
Some fans are still under the impression that Faz could step straight in because of who he is. I doubt the club share this view. I feel sure Faz would need to go on coaching courses and then join the club as an apprentice-coach, with a view to working his way up. For this, he would inevitably be on smaller wages than he's used to. Whether he'd accept such a situation is up to him.
With Edwards I think it's slightly different. He's already a proven and accomplished coach. He may need a brief time as assistant-coach to get up to speed with the latest RL innovations, but I would think he's already a lot more prepared than Faz.
At present, however, it doesn't look as if either are getting ready to join Wigan. So I think this may be a hypothetical discussion.

| IMO
Edwards - Coach
Faz - Assistant Manager
We'd have no problems, whatsoever! The fact that Edwards is just a complete born winner, all that matters is winning and the both of them would set the laws down for pride and passion within the Cherry and White shirt.
Hope to see it one day IL get it sorted

| Rads put Betts failure as coach down to him that. Players saw him as a team-mate rather than a coach. S'all in his book.

I think it can depend on the type of character you were as one of the rank and file.

| Fittlers problem was that he took over at a time when the Roosters had nothing in their ranks. If he'd have retired at the end of the 2002 Grand Final and taken over for 2003, he would have had a few good years as a coach.

It's very simple, don't bring him in as a coach. Looking at the posts about people like Lam who have experience and are not good enough then why on earth would Farrel get a go?

For the down fall of Fittler as a coach see Paul Cullen, Fittler is too much of a mate to the players and falls into the same traps as them, there is a fine line between mates and coach and often the coaches that fail get on the wrong side of this line.
Faz does not come across as someone who would get on the wrong side of this equation.

| There's nothing to suggest that Farrell ever will coach Wigan...

| Personally i dont think either edwards nor faz will coach wigan as this is where they made their names and wouldnt want the fans turning against them.
If results didn't go our way the team wasn't performing everyone would be on the lets get rid of edwards/faz bring in someone else
