| Gleeson, GB centre. Big past.
But does everyone on here posting about the topic seriously think that he is going to be the one pill that solves all our ills ?
Rumour abounds about his 'social' life. Saints got rid of him, now Wire have got rid of him.
Wigan are currently playing some real dross rugby, one man drives x5 plus a kick.
Can one new player really turn the whole season around ?
I have ultimate faith in our chairman and I am happy with this signing, but people on here perhaps need a slight reality check.

| IMO he's an improvement. So I think it's a good move, plus we've lost Mathers.

He wont transform the team overnight but he will improve the team immediantly. For the first time since 2002 we will have 2 quality centres who can create tries for their wingers. We now don't have to opt to playing Bailey at centre.
The rumours about his social life are just that rumours. The lad is clearly thrilled to be joining Wigan.

| You make improvements one step at a time. Our right centre slot was a problem. It has now been fixed with a very good quality, long term appointment. It doesn't mend all our ills, merely let's Nobby think "Right. That's that sorted, now what's next to be put right?"
For me, prop is now the obvious next target. Get the right guy next season, again on a longish deal, and we could finally be getting somewhere.

IIRC Saints needed to raise cash and quickly at the time, and as for his time at Wire hes never been slated until now when hes gone so im more than confident hes going to complete the back 5 for the next 3 n half years but as a team we are weaker in other areas id agree.

And therein lies the problem!
Too many Wiganners think that 1 "Change" will solve all the problems, it won't!
But this is a Major step towards where we need to be be in 12/18 months time!

Correct. There are no quick fixes any more.
If such a thing was possible, Barrett would have performed that function for us.
Saints and Leeds built their current sides up over several years of steady growth and sensible decision-making. We did much the same thing in the early 90s. The 94 WCC winning side had been evolving since Graham Lowe's arrival in 86.
That's the way we must do it. But we've had a glaring gap in the centres for several years now - since Renouf left if we're honest. And this signing goes a considerable way to filling it.

26079.jpg Stevo on a Craig Smith intersept, "that was like throwing tomato seeds out of a moving train window and coming back a year later and tomatoes have grown!"
Eddies reaction, "I don't know what he's been taking but i wants some"
Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, says he has failed to be gripped by England's rugby union World Cup bid.
"I've not seen it," said the England striker. "I've been watching the rugby league.":26079.jpg |

| i don't know gleeson personally but i have worked with him at wire on a few occasions. All i can say is the guy is rediculously quiet, you struggle to get 2 words out of him, but he is also very easily lead, seriously, even if i said jump he would and i was only a community coach. He seems a lovely lad, but i can see that being in clubs like warrington (we all know what their like) and around people like Sean Long, how it can get him into bother.
From that i think he's been scape-goated a bit. Saints wanted to look like they we're "dealing" with the betting situation but didn't want to scarifice long, so gleeson was the only option and a bit of a knee jerk reaction (not that i'm condoning what he did and quite rightly lost his place a a top team). However at wire i can confidently tell you he's not in the main group of idiots, and it seems has made an effort to stay away from them, he's not perfect i'm sure, but again seems to have matured.
i HOPE that he will be able to stay on the right track under someone he's familiar with like noble and in a town he lives in. I HOPE he stays away from the "socialites" at wigan, which i think with his maturity he will.
Noble always seem to get the best out of him at GB, no matter his domestic form he always played well internationally so hopefully they can spark that again. Plus like some have said its better than what we had and can't get any worse.

And the rumours about his social life just being rumours? Crikey.
And FYI Gleeson would rather be in the NRL than anywhere else. And second to that probably Sintellins.

Is anyone else thinking this kind of the same thing or is it just me?
I currently can't decide what I prefer more Gleeson coming or Mathers leaving.

All the above your guessing at. You have no facts/evidence to back up your statements.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Lets see how he gets on first instead of going along with rumours, lets give him praise from the stands and lots of confidence then he will hopefully do well.
