| Looking at the four games so far we do appear to be playing a more open or expansive type of Rugby.
Our tries are 10 tries to the backs and halves and three to the forwards. I counted Bailey's try at Quins as a backs try as was at 3.
Against Cas we certainly moved the ball around and only Tommy scored close in. Four were scored out wide and arguably that was part of our undoing with so few conversions.
At Quins the backs again were brought into the game far more than these past seasons. I think having Ainscough out there gives us an option as he is elusive and makes a lot of yards as well of course as scoring. The 80 mtr try started by Sam T and finished by Carmont was excellent, more of the same please.
The comments made by fans and IL at his FF about boring Rugby do appear to have been listened to.

| I have no problem with boring rugby for part of a a match, ALL sides have times where they grind out sets with one out dives, but yes at certain points during he quins match we actually looked like a team that had trainned together, not just met in the pub car park before the match.
now if we can sort our defence and stopping giving away 10 meters a tackle with the take two steps forward and stop method..........

Interesting point about the conversions. I haven't got stats to hand, even for recent matches, but it would be interesting to see how we'd have fared in the opening 3 matches if we'd kicked all our goals.
The irony is that we've now got two or three recognised kickers in the first team squad, whereas when Richards took over, we didn't really have any.
Maybe there is a downside to scoring tries out wide. That said, already this season we've scored a couple of better tries than I remember from all last year. Plus, it's not just about exciting the fans. It's about unnerving the opposition because they know you can score from anywhere on the field. That's one definite advantage that Leeds and Saints have had over us in recent years. If we can change that this year, I'd be very pleased.

Some people on here must have been watching another game to me i thought we are plain and simply boring and had no idea.
Some of the players are to bothered about looking more and more like kiwis with there stupid haircuts and it also looks like a compitiion who can have the most tattoo's.
Tell you what its a bloody good job Wanki#s are worse than us !!
at the moment this is how i feel :
Riddell - unfit and not a clue
Smith - couldnt tackle a big sunday dinner
Mathers - the david james of Rugby couldnt catch a cold
feka - not fit enough
fielden - needs a good kick up the ar#e
Hock - piled on to much timber round the waist.
I would bring the kids in and let them have a chance to play for there places becuase the first team look like they are turning up thinking they will just walk straight into the team. With the Kids at least we know they will give there all to impress and be proud to wear the cherry and white.
maybe half the players wages and give them the other half back as a bonus when they decide to do a days work because to me they dont look like they give a sh#t !!
like i said that my opnion.

Well if both teams kicked all there goals then it would have been
Wigan 6 Wakefield 12 no change
Hull 18 Wigan 12 would still have lost but by 2 pts less
Wigan 30 Cas 30 would have been a draw
Quins 34 Wigan 30
That is what the scores would have been if you are going to say we kicked all our goals then you must assume the opposition has done the same

| The only time we do seem to play expansive rugby is when Noble's tactics of 5 drives and a kick are abandoned by the players. This usually happenes at some point in the second half when we have nothing else to lose e.g Cas match.
Yes I agree one up rugby is needed at some point during a match but IMO the best was to break down an opposition defence is by being unprecticable, something which at the moment we aren't!

I think it's more about the desperation to get the win ,as you said we moved the ball around more each game , is it a case of how we played last year when the games seemed lost and we started to move the ball more. Those last min wins only happed when plan a went out the window .

I would agree with that.
We seem to play far better stuff when we need points quickly.

| We don't play better, we throw it around like school kids playing touch. It just looks pretty for the uneducated eye. The truth is we have no ideas in attack.
