20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| Defensively he was good, in regards to catching bombs and the way he tracked behind the defensive line when Warrington were attaching our try line, much better than Tomkins in that respect. I think the more he plays to better he will get for sure. I'm team Bowen.

| He mentioned in an interview his family has only just come over. Perhaps he is happier and more settled and showing it on the field.

Great try, however lets not ignore the fact he cost us six points fumbling under the high ball though.......

| Thought he took the high ball, and it was a very high ball, but got hit in impact causing him to lose the ball. Good play from all involved in my opinion for that try.

He didn't fumble it. He list it in the tackle on the ground having been hit hard. Might have even had it punched out and it was very wet ball.

The opposition players were yards offside and not picked up by the officials should have been a penalty for Wigan.

Will have to check the replay. This is the BBC's take on it anywayThe Australian, however, was to blame for letting Escare add to the French side's advantage after the break, spilling a Pryce kick. '"

Roby was woeful at times during that game. Pity Mr Ganson didn't "have a word" with him at half time like he did last week when Saints were losing at Wakefield.

That makes it sound like he just dropped it and he didn't. Got hit and was sliding over the line toward the stand when it came loose. As I said it may have been knocked out but even if it wasn't I don't think he just dropped it and it was are result of the hit.

Crowd got very angry just before half time. He kept telling Les Cats to stay onside after they hand wandered offside but if he gave two penalties against them for offside I'd be surprised.

| I thought that Bowen was living dangerously a little on a couple of occasions, collecting the ball and throwing long flat passes out five metres from our own line. One in particular was pretty high and Burgess had to jump for it. Not really needed, especially in the wet weather! A definite head in hands moment for the crowd there...and he did it a couple of weeks back too!

I think I know which one you mean. In the first half?
He got a lot of slagging off from some around me for running at the corner on an attack to the left also in the first half and passing the ball to winger with no room left.
Now OK he should probably have held onto the ball but I am certain he was expecting either the winger or centre to run an angle on the inside - not follow him left!

| It would be harsh for Bowen to be blamed for conceding the 6 points. In that rain the ball would have been like a bar of soap. It's a bit like the goalkeeper issue in football - no one takes much issue when an outfield player messes up but if a goalkeeper makes one mistake they get slaughtered for it.
Bowen has more of an excuse for losing the ball than Farrell does as it's hard to protect the ball when you're trying to catch it. Also in that rain even if you have a good firm grip on the ball a good tackle can make the ball slip out and it was a good tackle.
The biggest fault in the build up to that try was a slow defence not putting any pressure on the kicker and allowing him to get as much height and distance as he wanted.

He deffo caught it, as he was tackled and hit the ground the ball spilled out.
There were numerous players in front of the kicker but not sure if any of them were involved in the tackle (or within the 10) when he caught it although my impression is they were.
There's 1 idiot sat behind us (same bloke who slagged Riddell for 2 years) who called him " a f#####g coward" 2 weeks ago and was at it again last night from the 1st minute!
I agree he shouldn't have thrown the ball to Burgess in the 1st half but nothing wrong with anything else IMO with regards to kick return and collecting the high ball.
I think I remember DaveO saying he had a good game for his debut against Hudds? I agreed and WCC apart I think he's been pretty good and getting better each week.
There were half a dozen tanked up at H/T wanting to send the "useless lazy blah blah blah" home. To be honest rather than it wind me up I just laugh at them.
Same as I did last night after the initial euphoria of the try, I just turned around and looked at him and laughed!
PS
At 10-0 (IIRC) he pulled off a try saving tackle near the corner of the west/south stand. As soon as he did it I said that could win us the game!
I don't want that piece of effort/skill to go unnoticed.
