I think you're letting parochialism take over there, what do you expect on a Wigan forum other than anger at a key player being injured in a quasi-international game? If M Monaghan, for instance, had played and been injured you'd be just as put out as we are.

| I feel for Leuluai as he's a player i have a ton of respect for and i can understand Wigan fans being upset at his loss which looks like it could be season ending. However the ones calling for the game to now be scrapped because of this and hinting at compensation and saying the game was meaningless, remember the anger shown by Wigan fans when Goulding and McIlorum didn't get picked to play in this 'meaningless' match. Even though he'll be in the NRL next year you can bet if you asked Leuluai if he wants the Exiles game to continue on he'd say 100% yes.

You are being rather selective in your reading of views. True that Wigan fans were annoyed at the exclusion of certain players, but that was coupled with the fact that the whole selection of the England team was a joke. The "joke" has resulted in us losing a key player. I'm sure if you had lost a player through injury in this game, you would feel the same. So please don't come here taking some kind of moral high ground. You hve failed.
EDIT. just looked, you are a Leeds fan... Speaks volumes.

We need a better concept than this "exiles" farce because that game yesterday had anything but intensity or passion. The locker cup had more passion than what was on show yesterday. I think we need to work more on the lancs/York game more at least then the fans can show some passion which may rub off on the players'"
Probably a fair shout. There would be a bit more passion from fans etc. Is there enough talent though? Let's have a crack. Feel free to help.

There was no "anger" about Goulding and McIlorum's omissions, just comment on McBananas England selection policy.
And as to Tommy saying "yes" to the exiles game continuing I doubt he cares one way or the other. On the other hand If you asked him that with hindsight he would prefer to have played in this game but as a result perhaps miss out on further club honours with Wigan you know the answer.
Players are like everyone else "It won't happen to me" is the attitude and what players want to do does't always coincide with their interests of their employer, their club. In that regard given we have lost TL there is no way Finch should be allowed near the next game whether he wants to play or not.

| Gutted for Tommy, what a rubbish way to end his excellent Wigan career if it does turn out to be season ending. What do people think are our halfback options now. We've basically got:
1. Sam
6. Lockers
7. Finch
1. Sam
6. Mellor
7. Finch
1. Sam
6. Finch
7. Powell
1. Russell
6. Sam
7. Finch
Which would people rather see? There could also be the option of paying the fee for Chase and bringing him now.

No i'd be disappointed if a Leeds player got injured, which for a second i thought Hall did in the same collision, but i wouldn't call for the game to be scrapped as a result. I admit many Leeds fan would react differently to me, but i'm not trying to make it out to be some Leeds/Wigan thing like you are Sir and that fans of other clubs would be any different. I also wrote ''THE ONES (not everyone) who are calling for the game to be scrapped'' which indicates that yes i was being selective about some views but i didn't hide that and didn't claim all Wigan fans are thinking the same thing. Your OTT reaction to a well made and grown up point shows you have failed and speaks volumes about you as a person regardless of what team you support.

| Pull every player out of game 2. Yesterday was one of the most embarrassing fiascos Ive ever attended, from Saints being unable to sell hot food, to the crowd not caring / booing their own, to the entire novel on what is wrong with Steve McNamara and his selections, now we lose a player for the year.
Heartbreaking end to Tommy's season.
Do we move for Smith or Chase now or simply call Russell back? Mellor isn't anywhere near good enough and shouldn't be considered a realistic option.
Absolutely gutted.

| I honestly can't see how Mellor is considered not good enough yet people think Russell is. He's fantastic with the ball in hand but he's still awful under the high ball. People didn't have much patience with Ainscough and I can't imagine them having much patience with Russell either. The Hull fans would be happy for Russell to come back to Wigan and that says a lot given the few options they have at fullback.

| I completely understand the anger at the loss of tommy, it's not that that I am getting at. It's the "let's scrap this meaningless game/we want compensation" nonsense. I realise that it's not all Wigan fans, but these types of games are important for the England "team" regardless of current selection. It's about the bonding as a unit for just the training camp or the game itself that is important. We need to start performing as a unit, and put aside team differences like we saw with the Saints/Leeds split a few years ago. Contrary to a lot of opinions, I believe we have the players to compete at the top level. Getting the selection right is the key, and it's these events that greatly assist in that.

| 7 months out, devastated for him. The last thing we wanna do is disrupt the team too much with moving lockers/sam to the half's. We have a favourable run of games coming up, next 5 games being 4 of the bottom teams? So this gives us time to play around and see what the best combinations are, ready for play off time. Id be tempted to splash the cash now, too rash?

I would be absolutely amazed if Lenagan allows any Wigan player to represent the exiles, in any form, ever again.
I appreciate it's bad luck on our part that it's our player and such a bad injury, but when all's said and done, IL has a responsibility to Wigan, not England.

How does it help though?? Aussie based players will walk straight into the team/squad and they've not been part of the mid-season bonding. And if rumors are true and McBannana did go there with a list of "English" players we're going to get more players who only become available at end of season.

| Correct me if im wrong on this but cant we de-register tommy and still pay him as none playing staff? Didn't Hull KR do the same with Dobson when they brought in big willy mason? Don't think the salary cap would be an issue if we were to bring somebody in.
