Richards is an excellent winger, one of the best in SL certainly, and his kicking game is exceptional, but not sure whether I would mark him down as world class - neither is Joel for that matter, but both are top level international quality outside backs.

As a matter of interest, and specifically for those claiming he is world class, how many games did Richards play for Australia (at any level) before declaring his availability for Ireland in 2008?

If Richards isn't a world class winger then there aren't any because he's on a par with any other wingman in the world at the moment imo. He's a different type of winger to the 2 others i'd put up in his class in Vatuvai and Morris but he's an equal to the pair of them imo.

He's a huge bloke with good pace who finishes trys for fun via various methods. If he still played in Australia now he'd be a regular in the Australian national side.

As good as he is i wouldnt call him world class.What i do like about him, as you have said. Is for a big unit he has pace to burn.

If Richards was playing in the NRL he would be staight into the austrialian team. Hes as good as Morris and better than Tuiquiri, and it is only austrialian arrogence that means he is not selected for those teams, in the same way Trent Barrett was snubbed when he was in Super League.

If Richards went back to Aus next year he'd walk into the origin side and test side IMO just like Barrett did. Just hope he never decides to go back though!

Richards scored 20 tries in his last season in the NRL (2005). He was world class then - he is more experienced now and at his physical peak. It's just ridiculous to claim he isn't world class.
