| Quote: NickyKiss "Thats why I say it's mainly Saints fans that seem to be giving Wane plenty of stick because I believe they feel they're behind Wigan by a little way at the moment and they're losing one of their best 2 players in Graham at the end of the year.
As for Wire we've got what you want( though i'd use a line from Wires marketing team there) but I think your fans know that on any given day it's 50/50 between the 2 sides and your close enough to Wigan to just look after your own game.'"
It's pretty obvious we are behind Wigan by a little way at the moment and i doubt any saints fan with common sense can't see this.
We are also losing one of our best players in James Graham and he will be huge loss no doubt.
However, wigan are losing the best thing thaw happened to the club in god knows how many Years in MM. IMO the loss of MM is far greater than the loss of James Graham at saints.
If wane does get the job, it's always going to be a step down as MM is the best coach in super league by a long way.

| Seeing as IL and Rads are going to be the guys making this decision, I'll be happy with whoever they appoint. I trust their judgement 100%
Unless it's Millward!

We won't have Maguire anymore granted but we'll have a guy who's worked day in day out with him for 2 years so therefore any changes will be kept to a bare minimum. We will still have Mark Bitcom as well who's the man responsible for getting these players as fit as they are now.
We dominate games via our aggression combined with our fitness and with those 2 around we won't have a problem on that score.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Not to mention we will still have pretty much all the same players as now, players like Finch, Lockers, Leuluai and maybe even Deacon will lead us round the park.

Also I'm sure Maguire has even learnt a few tricks from Wane himself. He is afterall a Wiganer through and through and will have helped Maguire in plenty of ways.
Wane will take all the strong points and processes Maguire has brought in and add his own stamp.
He'll do fine.

'"
to be fair when the last assistant to take over from a departing coach was James Lowes, you can understand why people come to this thick ape conclusion.
James Lowes was a complete cretin, he couldnt even spell clipboard never mind read from one...
Wane does look like he writes in crayon on his clipboard!
However I have no doubt he's a better coach than Lowes will ever be...but Wigan coach ....?? I would be suprised.

I wouldn't say we're dominating quite yet FTV! Wigan are back. But until we've won the WCC and the treble next season under SW I woudn't say we've been dominant.
Still, nice to know that even Saints fans are starting to think that the early 90s have returned.

I'm not 100% sure what kind of coaching track-record James Lowes had before he was made an assistant, but my understanding is that it was virtually non-existent. Wane on the other hand has been involved in coaching at Wigan - with considerable success (as in his teams have barely lost) - for 10 years before he became MM's sidekick,
So your analogy doesn't stand up in any shape or form.
I don't know whether Wane will make a good first team coach or not, but thus far I've not seen a single convincing argument from any Wire or Saints fan as to why he "probably won't". And I'm afraid you are no exception.

Shaun Wane unlike Lowes has had a very successful spell as coach of a reserve team where he helped churn out players like Sam and Joel Tomkins, Liam Farrell, Paul Prescott, Micky McIlorum and so on and on. He knows these guys and they have huge respect for him.
I'd rather look to an assistant stepping up and driving a club on like Brian Noble when he took over from Matty Elliot then a guy with no track record of coaching success like Lowes.
We should also remember Lowes took over a poor side not a champion side like Wane will take over.
