I keep reading people here and in Oz saying how he’s having a poor season this year. He started really well, had one off game and then missed a game with injury and then came back at the weekend and was probably Canberra’s best player. His try contribution record (try’s and assists) for this season when I looked a couple of weeks ago was better than Nathan Cleary’s (he’s gone ahead now after Williams missed game) and it’s still better than the likes of Cameron Munster and Jack Wighton.

We’d be getting a fine player. I really hope he comes back full of belief in himself because he should do. He has more than held his own down under.

He’s not having a poor season but the Raiders are. His combination with Wighton and Hodgson is a bit clunky – I’m not sure what Stuart has them doing in training, seems to have Williams running across field too much.

Sounds to me like a deal is being discussed but isn't yet finalised. There is a bit of negotiation in pubic going on.

The latest seems to be Canberra won’t let him go early unless they find a suitable replacement

Other than money I would see no other reason why he would go somewhere else, we are the biggest club in England and probably currently the second best team and by all accounts he left on good terms.

Don't Wigan have contract clause with him where you have first option on him?

Steady on, NK, there is no way Williams is a better player than Cleary or Munster! But I agree he has done well in a misfiring side, Yes, he had a poor game, and an injury, but looked more effective than fans' fave Wighton last time out. And the consensus amongst Raiders fans is generally in no way "blame the Pom", by and large, they don't. And rightly so.

Haven’t said he is. I said up until a couple of weeks ago he had more try contributions that Cleary, who is having another great season and he still has more contributions than Munster and plenty of other top players.

Simply pointing out that he’s doing pretty well again and isn’t having this poor season I’ve heard mentioned since the news came out that he’d like to head back to the UK.

From what I've seen, a lot of blame can be placed on Hodgson - he's ridiculous sometimes.

They look a much better team with Starling at 9 this year.

Hodgson is a great player but he tries to do too much and clearly wants to be “the man” at the Raiders.

Sadly for him he has 2 dominant halves in Williams and Wighton who need the ball and to be centre stage.

I’d expect Hodgson to move in the off-season to maybe somewhere like Brisbane who lack a dominant controlling player and I am sure you would see him back to his best.

Must have been told it's their year. Would like him back at Wigan but if he goes to warrington then hey ho. Can't say I'd be gutted although I don't believe this story anyway.

The Raiders will take Austin now as the quality replacement for GW then he's still the quality replacement at the end of the year when he's OOC at Wire. Austin to Raiders from November 2021 and 2022 with George to leave then and join Wigan.

His technique always looked great here I felt but it just seemed like a job he really didn’t want. If we did manage to get him back in, it’s nice to have that option alongside Harry Smith and then have Hardaker backing up as third choice.
