| Quote: MadDogg "I make no apologies for repeating this point on here - a terrific talent Phelps, a major threat creatively from fullback and someone who IMO certainly could be our number 1 for many years.
A huge blow if he's out for a while, judging by Maguire's comments it doesn't look promising. Looks like Ainscough won't be spending much time at Widnes in the next few weeks. Or I wonder if Pryce will be given a run?'"
Hope Ainscough can stay, cant you put Goulding on the wing and out Roberts full back.
Well done on tonight btw.

| According to Kris at the players player award they are going to make an assessment tomorrow. They are not sure as to the extent of the injury.

| Don't think there would be much debate as to who the Wigan speccies would like to see play.
Will be a cracker next week, Might be worth the 4 hour round trip!

| It is possible to have a broken ankle, or leg etc and continue to walk or run, especially if it's been done through playing sport, as you have all the endorphines and adrenaline pumping round your body, which can mask the pain to an extent.

| Phelps really has started to show what he is capable of under Maguire. He was putting pin perfect kicks into the corners for the likes of Amos and Richards and also pulling off some great long passes when he chimed into the attacking line.
Hopefully Maguire can keep this improvement going with him. Afterall, Maguire was the guy who coached the likes of Slater....

| The modern full-back position is also like a 3rd half-back. IIRC don't both Phelps and Webb have experience playing at stand-off?

Not sure about Webb but apparently Phelps was a stand off when he was younger yes.
I think Deacon may already be teaching some of his tricks to our creative players. Phelps was showing some more skills but Tomkins showed a great kicking game tonight, both his pin point kicks for the wingers but also a few long range kicks that split the Hull KR backs too. Good signs so early on.

| Hopefully he isn't too badly injured but if he is then I'd personally like to see Josh Veivers at full-back and keep Amos on the wing.

From what i've heard, Vievers isn't really ready for first team yet. If i'm honest, i'd like to see Ainscough get a shot on the wing.

| Phelps looked really good in attack before he went off, only really noticed him make one cock up in defence too. If his injury keeps him out next week we should definitely put Ainscough in on the wing with Roberts at full back.

Well Roberts looked very dangerous on the wing so I can see where you are coming from but sticking Veivers in at full back against a Wire side we all think looks very impressive is not going to happen.
So I'd stick Richards at full back and have Ainscough and Roberts on the wings.
I was surprised Richards didn't go to FB tonight but then again while Roberts is getting the plaudits if you have the game recorded, watch Richards as well. Very good on his wing IMO.

| If Phelps is out I really do hope we bring Ainscough in, he is the only player IMO who can bring the attacking edge that we will lose with Phelps.
Next week id go with:
Roberts
Ainscough, Gleeson, Carmont, Richards
Sam, Tommy
Fielden, Riddell, Coley
Hansen, Joel
O'Loughlin
Mossop, Feka, Deacon, Prescott
