Stupid decision imo. What does he honestly hope to achieve with them?
He would have been better served taking some time off and waiting for a manager to leave during the season next season. Noble is bigger than the Celtic job
Agar will have a lot of pressure to succeed next season and that could have been an excellent job for Noble.

I don't suppose he's on too much of a loser.
Celtic can't do any worse than get the wooden spoon, so any improvement on that will at least be an improvement. If it isn't much of an improvement, he can always cite the club as a joke outfit.
I can't help thinking that Nobby's stock has diminished while he's been at Wigan. Some fans are loyally defending him, while RL journos, eager as always to stir the crap, expressed contant bewilderment that he wasn't being kept on, but the reality is surely that most of those who know what the game's about will have recognised Wigan's many failings under his tutorship. When he was first appointed to Wigan, I bet he could have taken his pick of coaching jobs. Talk of coaching in Australia was probably quite realistic given his status. Now, I can't imagine there were many doors open to him at all. He may have taken what he can get (though, like you, I'm surprised he didn't get a sniff of the Hull job).

Thats what everyone said when he took over at Wigan.
He now has the chance to start again with a clean sheet and not the pressure he had here. I for one wish him well and hope he can get them to a top 6 side in the next 3 years.

Noble wanted Ennis instead of Piggy but IL chose the cheaper option, unsure about Amos though but he doesn't seem to be the type of winger Noble would pick from what he previously picked at Bradford.

IMO he should have waited till a better job came up.
With his excellent handling of the media I’m sure he could have subversively put pressure on any underperforming coach half way through the year.
I just can’t see his appeal for Celtic regardless of how much his rep has taken a battering.
Pressure or not he could do a hell of a lot better.

Celtic = security.
He is in a no lose situation, his reputation will not suffer if he is unable to turn them round, and even a small improvement will see him being given considerable credit.
He also has a good bit of cap space to recruit the type of player he wants, i know Winterstein has already signed up after discussions with Noble (a good month or so ago) and other will follow.
Regards Hull they do not want him, despite both him and Sharp hoping it would happen, if Agar goes they will look overseas, as most people would at the moment.

When did that happen?
Maybe the guy is just a professional who wants to straight back into the saddle. Potential wise it's one of the more exciting jobs around. He'll be given carte blanche to turn the club around from top to bottom.
Good luck to him I say.

At the time of him going to Wigan he could have had the pick of any job in SL and was looking at jobs in the NRL as well. Can this be said now?

I honestly can’t see it. If he wants a job with potential go to Widnes or Barrow and take them into SL.
I just can’t see the appeal of Celtic.
Either way good luck to him and I really do hope he’s a success as he’s a very likeable guy who did us a good service at Wigan.

I think that's what you call positive spin. But like you, I wish him all the best.

If he went to Widnes (who currently have a coach under contract and therefore didn't offer Noble a job.) or Barrow, he could wait till 2011 only to find out that his team hadn't been awarded a licence.
At Celtic he has the opportunity to put a professional rugby league club on the sporting map. He has a whole nation as his scouting ground and maybe it's that, amongst other reasons that enticed him into accepting the offer.

No what he did during his time at Wigan imo has dented his rep.

If Noble went to say Barrow and won the championship with them for the next two years + the national rail SL would be stupid not to bring them up.
