is it just me who doesn't really take hudds seriously as a legit threat to our SL crown? I just see it between us and wire really, the rest don't come close

Thought Hudds were there for the taking today, bit more discipline for Catalans would have seen them possibly win that.

Couldnt agree more, it was more Catalan dropping the ball in the first half than Huddersfield looking good.

The Giants are a cracking side with everyone on deck but missing 2 big players like Brough and O'Donnell could hurt them. To be fair to them though any win against Catalans this year is a good win as we'd like to have found out and we'll have to be on top form again to get the win.

The fact that I believe it will be a tussle is why I'd like to see Hock on the bench for Tuson. To be able to bring that sort of player on when the games close will give the team and crowd a real lift.

I'd be bombing all their backline to death, not one is safe under the high ball especially Grix.

The opposition are bamboozled by them as they never go within 30ft of where he aims. A classic weapon and good fun to watch.

Giants have Beaten catalans twice (twice more than Wigan). Warrington,Saints, and Leeds.

They are the most under rated team in super league as this thread shows.

Their pack is superior to Wigan's and their English backs at least as good as Wigan's foreign legion.

Grix is safe as houses under the high ball.

This is going to be a real tear up an a great game.

The team who plays best on the night will win.

They won't be roughing our pack up now that Coley and possibly Hock are back.

A call like that is a very big one and can only really be judged at the end of the season but we'll see.

Very true, but 6 Semi Finals (PO and CC) in 4 years suggests a team consistently building upwards.

And we're often accused of living in the past on here, so let's not forget not only the title we won last season, but the dominant manner in which it was done.

Of course not and I just hope we can keep the trophies coming but it will be tough. I'm not daft enough to sit here and say we've got a better pack then Wire or Hudds or a better backline then Saints or Wire or Hudds because your judged on silverware at the end of the day and were fighting to claim the 2 on offer this year.

As for yourselfs you've won nowt yet and as I say you've made some pretty big claims for a side with 'no' pots in the cabinet. If you do claim one this year I'll congratulate you and be pretty happy.

Point taken on the semi finals. I think people are getting carried away though. Wigan have their best side for a good while but in recent years Bradford,Sts and Leeds can rightly claim to have been the best sides.A couple more pots and then you can start to call the likes of Coley better than average Wigan players.

It's when he can stand comparison with Skerret,Dowling,Platt and Shelford that you can expect him to roll over other teams every week.

And players like Mcillorum may rise to be as good as say Marin Hall but aren't in the same league as Nicky Kiss,Howie Tamati,Martin Dermott or even Terry Newton.

I don't recall Steve Ella or Greg Dowling winning anything with Wigan they were still great players (but probably not in your opinion).

I see Huds as genuine challengers this season. Warrington look good atm but the thing is with them is they always die a death in the play-offs. For me Huddersfield could well make OT.

To be fair though, with the exception of last year, when was the last time Warrington had a team who was this good and this close to challenging?

We shouldnt have a problem beating the giants on Sat as our pack will match the giants and we disposed them with ease at the galpharm when we had 7 players out in march.

Anyone who thinks the game on Sat will be easy and we'll walk over them needs their head testing. The giants pack is one of the best in the league and they have some good backs who can finish for fun.

No Brough makes the task a little easier but we'll need to improve our intensity in the ruck area again from Friday to win the game, they won't lie down like Graham (et al) did.
