The older group of saints fans were directing the chants at Wigan fans in the pub which is far more intimidating! It was taken as banter tho which is how it should be!

| I've watched united home, away and across Europe and really don't think there is anything to be concerned about with the Brigantes group! It's a million miles away from any football type trouble!

| Quote: Nogga "Why not have a sing song and a craic with your mates outside the ground tho? Were there any arrests? Any violence? No! What's the problem? Their just having fun and being lads!'"
I GIVE UP!!!
The problem being, their acting in the very same way the saints fans did that you were calling intimidating and having potential to cause a riot!
Behaving like this through a town centre is intimidating, offensive, and has potential for kick off!
Have a sing and a craic with your mates in the pub and in the ground - no one here is the fun police quite often we will get two sets of fans in a pub singing back and forth at each other which is banter, a good craic and a laugh, and one of the things im proud our game can do that others cant!
It is completely different to blocking the road of the town centre, singing offensive chants about the town you are in, covering up your faces with scarves, and looking more akin to a football hooligan following or the EDL than rugby league supporters!
Behave like this at wire and it will kick off as Horatio has just said - This is what the majority of people want to avoid!
The other point he has also just perfectly demonstrated is no one is accusing you of purposly acting in a way that has potential to cause trouble, intimidate people, or being offensive, but just because you're not meaning to act in this way, doesnt mean that your actions can be seen to incite trouble or intimidate or offend people!

| I know some rough people, when i'm with them i don't feel intimidated in fact i feel quite comfortable because i know them and they're my friends, whereas if i walked in to a pub and saw them and i didn't know them i'd be very weary of them.
You're not seeing the full picture or understanding human nature.

Whos to say that anyone in st helens didnt think your chants and behaviour was directed at them?
The issue here is its in the perception, and the vast majoirty are telling you that your actions, while perhaps not intended, do have potential to be perceived as causing offence, being threatening, intimidatory, or inciting trouble.
Surely in the cold light of day you can see that walking though a town centre singing that it is full of s^^t has this potential - In the same way that moreso singing W@nky Warrington will have if you do that when we go there! There are people there who wont even be going to the game or may not know a game is going on (granted they'd have to be dim on good friday but there is still potential)
This for them, is the same as me rocking up in the centre of liverpool tomorrow, with a banner and 40 lads singing anti liverpool songs, and this is only one aspect of the behaviour that is problematic!

| Embarrassing video.
Brigantes have done a great job with the flags and improving atmosphere at games and all the new songs, but all that should stay at games. Walking in the middle of the road stopping traffic with a big flag singing obscenities about the town is just pathetic, giving Wigan fans a bad name.

| They're not really doing anything wrong from what I can see i.e directly threatening anyone, but I just don't see the point of it.

| some members of that group are starting to try and look like characters out of green street. and that is what will cause trouble. if saints have a group what did that and walked past last orders in wigan there would be alot of trouble as just the look of the fans is starting to look like a football firm.

| Quote: Nogga "Asking for trouble? How exactly? I was in The George pub on Good Friday, full of wiganers. Then a group of st Helens fans come in singing 'Wigan rugby is full of ars*holes' I'm sure you know the rest of the words... I found this quite intimidating and it could have caused a full on riot. These people were in there 40s and 50s and should know better. Utter disgrace. Sorry no video evidence tho!'"
2 wrongs don't make a right!
scarfs arround faces implies you don't want to be recognised if criminal proceedings were to follow. so looking for trouble yes without doubt... or perhaps wanting to look hard or menacing in some way ( living up to the ultra label in some small way)
wigan rugby is full of ars*holes, that's a new one on me, doubt it rhymes very well! doesn't roll off the tongue too well

| Why scarves round your head!!!?
Why arrogantly hold up traffic!!!?
All the good work done by the group in the last year or so, now ruined by this embarrassing video.

| Quote: gerr'emonside "Its not the singing...its the singing about the town being full of s**t, covering faces, and walking down the road with banners blocking the place off etc that I think most fans would object to as being intimidating/ offensive and inciting trouble. OK so a large proportion of fans will sing these songs on the ground, but singing them in the middle of the town, where there are people and families with kids who may just be out shopping, going about their general business, acting this way is wrong IMO. Further its only a matter of time before similar mindless morons from the opposing team start responding to this, we end up with a stand off, a few to many drinks and it all boils over.
Why not just walk to the ground (on the pavement), sing when you're at the stadium, and have a good time like the majority of fans, rather than acting like children and looking for trouble.
Also to compare this to the riversiders lads, who at all matches just go for a laugh, a crack, and a few drinks, and never cause any trouble is a joke. No one ever mentions them as they dont cause trouble, or even get close to it! Ok so many of them get blind drunk...so what! So they had red faces? How the hell is this comparable?!!!!....hardly walking through saints town centre, with scarfs over their faces, blocking roads and shouting offensive chants like some EDL march is it?!
How you can fail to see this as threatening, offensive, and inciting trouble is beyond me?! Your about one level down from the chavs in mcdonalds last week. Grow the hell up, watch the rugby like an adult, and then you might find that adults actually want to be friends with you, rather than having friends, as it seems by your videos, who are moronic teenagers!'"
Cheers
Bit clueless as to why we were brought into this when I defended them earlier in the thread? Each to their own.
I actually closed the video down after about 30 seconds because it was too cringeworthy (similar to how i can't watch videos of me dunk) so didn't see them blocking buses/cars as everyone else seems to be indicating. Maybe that's going a bit too far but I certainly don't have a problem with them singing a few songs on their way to the ground.

| That is embarassing. I'm guessing that's what happens when you visit Warrington and meet violence when you haven't done "anything". The Brigantes idea is a great concept, if done nicely and not in a antagonistic way. The falgs and banners etc look great but come on lads.

| Scarves around faces is the main problem. No need for that! I've never heard of the group involved in any trouble or being violent. And for the record I'm not in the video, I was in the pub as I said previously.
