Our full strength side is still better than Dire's and we've got the knowledge we don't choke in the playoffs.'"
I'm sorry but your talking out your backside saying "We are still the best side in SL". It doesn't matter who you've got on the playing roster it matters what you do out on the pitch. Prime example Harlequins, on paper - worst team in SL but yet they've turned over St Helens and Leeds away, before being torn to pieces by the current best side in SL - Warrington.
Now we can sit here on our keyboards until we're blue in the damn fingers, it doesn't change the fact that the Wire are CURRENTLY better than us. With the team we put out due to injuries and suspensions etc, we are nowhere near the best side - and the SL table shows it regardless of whether we've played one less game or not.
NB. Note the word currently/ current. It means I think Warrington are the best team in SL at this stage of the season. It doesn't mean I think they're going to beat all before them and reign supreme. It doesn't mean that I don't think Wigan are not as good as them - far from it.

So a couple of weeks ago Castleford were the best team in super league?
After week one Crusaders were the best team in the league? Lets not get silly.

No, I'm not saying that just because Warrington are top they're currently the best team in SL. You've completely missed the point.
Consistency wise, form wise and man for man, CURRENTLY Warrington are the best team in SL. Like it or lump it, Wigan are not the best at this moment in time.

How it talking out of my backside? Win our game in hand and we'd be 2nd?
By your reckoning any team that beats another is instantly better than them. How does your theory work on these results?

Were quins then the better side after this bad day at the office?
What about this perfect example?
rlhttps://wigan.rlfans.com/news.php?readmore
That to me looks like a spanking for Leeds. Were Wigan the better team at that moment in time? Not by a long, long way but occasionally the better team loses.
Now with us being 6 games into the season and having played one less game I’d be very reluctant to shake any belief about who the best team in SL is.

What consistency wise are you talking about?
All that separates us is one draw at the start of the season?
One win doesn’t make or break an excellent team.

You mention consistency then judge teams off just 6/7 games? Thats totally mental.

Exactly going into Friday's game we were more consistent having not lost a SL game.
Again one game does not change anything and FWIW I’d be happy to salute Wire in a few more games should we not get back on the horse.
But if we do go on a bit of a run into Easter and are one point behind them I fully expect many to say we’ve got the best team in SL.

Regardless of where we are should we win our game in hand, we are not the best side in SL at this stage.
Quote: thepriestman85 "By your reckoning any team that beats another is instantly better than them. How does your theory work on these results?'"
Not at all. By my reckoning the past 4 games consistency wise has effected my opinion. Warrington have been more consistent than us in these games. That's probably due to they have near a full strength side, where as we don't.

Quote: thepriestman85 "Were quins then the better side after this bad day at the office?'"
You've formed that on one result. I'm talking about CONSISTENCY not ONE result in the previous season. But on that night, second half more so, Yes Quins were the better side. Before you say it NO they weren't the best SL side either.
What about this perfect example?

As above. We were the better side on that night, but that didn't make us the best in the league
Quote: thepriestman85 "Now with us being 6 games into the season and having played one less game I’d be very reluctant to shake any belief about who the best team in SL is.'"
Thats your personal opinion - one I disagree with but it's one your entitled too. My personal opinion is that Wigan are the 2nd best in SL at this stage, purely down to the injuries and suspensions we have. Not due to the fact that we were beaten by Wire. I said after we beat Huddersfield (not on here) that I thought Warrington would beat us as I thought currently they were the better team.
I'm not too concerned with who is the best SL side yet, it could be Warrington, Crusaders anyone for all I care. I'd sooner be the best overall side at the END of the SL season - and have that claim backed up with another GF win.

| Quote: Wandering Warrior "Point 1 Friday was worth 2 points nothing more, same as the two points you dropped against Hudds(a team we beat) Thats the nature of a league.
Point 2 You totally dominated a Wigan team that was under strength and coming off the back of a gruelling match whereas you had a stroll against a poor team. If you think it will be that easy every time you play us you are in for a shock.
Point 3 If you think you are the best team in the league just because you beat us in one game you ar very very silly and that metality probably explains why you have about 3 championships and we have 19.'"
All good, debatable stuff ( although there were plenty of Wiganers - your Point 2 - who thought that that situtaion would prove an advantage to Wigan ), then you spoil it all by the silly remark about championships won. The opinion of one fan in 2011 can hardly be cited as a reason for league results dating back more than 100 years!

Whether they are or not is a moot point. Given the nature of the competition all a team has to do is finish in the top 3-4 and gear up for the knock out stages.

| I disagree with OP and frankly would be panicking if I thought we played well on Friday and got beat like that.
We did not play anywhere near well and that is the reason why we should not panic. We will be ok soon enough.

Agree we did not play as well as we can but the intensity was there and i dont see many teams matching us or Warrington for intensity. I still maintain we were not that bad and alot of the errors were forced by a very good Warringtion side. Question is can we step it up so we beat Warrington maybe three times in a month from 4th Sept through to the Grand Final.

| come on lets not turn bitter its not the wigan way. To be fair i thought wire looked very good on friday so credit were its due. However a full strength wigan side would have won the game. Lets not forget they're also missing King
