As much as this signing doesn't exactly get me jumping for joy to say it's 'another' disappointing signing seems very very unfair on Lenagan and the Coaching staff at Wigan.

I'm not sure any of our signings in the past couple of Years have dissapointed. They have all taken different amounts of time to settle but have all proved wise moves.

As for Lauaki he'll need to improve quite abit to not fall into that category but if any club at the moment can get that sort of improvement out of a player it's us. Mark Bitcom will have his work cut out on this one.

Well Sam's moved to 1 and has turned in to one of, if not the best player in the league (at 22), Finch has been one of the form half backs in the comp since hes settled in after a long term injury, and Phelps was a decent squad player who took up a quota space and hasnt done anything at Hull to suggest we would be a better team with him in it. Also if you are still criticising Lima after his performances over the last couple of months we've got to question your RL knowledge! I dont usually like criticising people's opinions but there are 4 here that are utter rubbish!

I do agree with you on the Lauaki side of things though, everytime I've seen him I thought he was very lazy and not good enough for Wigan, I've even seen him described as "dead wood" by Hull FC fans who want rid! You never know if he gets in our squad his attitude and performances might change but I am amazed this signing is being made. (if it happens, nowt confirmed yet obviously)

I agree, though it's worth pointing out that Mossop may only have made 1 more metre in 4 more carries but he also put in 24 tackles, with no missed tackles. The lad is a star.

no i apreciate your opinion just always wonder why people think Sam should be 6 for me i think his pace and ability to join the line whenever he wants makes him far more dangerous at FB and with 2 half backs who can open the defence with well time passes if you hit one of them at pace your gonna be straight through a massive gap. I do like he can be world class in either position though big help.

i dont agree re finch though i think his passing game at times is excellent throwing a ball that you think may be likely intercepted is to attract defenders out the line and make gaps although 1 did go wrong on Satuday his run around with the hoff was top quality. i think him and deacon have formed a good partnership now

I'm ok with this if it's true. Our props are all similar in style and his aggression (as long as it's controlled aggression) might offer us something a bit different?

Fully agree with this. I can't say I have been disappointed with any of IL's signings over the last couple of years.

I'm a Hull fan and at Hull Lauaki has been poor for most of his time at Hull, however I don't think it is purely down to him as a player. TBH alot of it is doen to the poor coaching, lack of game plan by Agar and poor management of him in the team.

He has very rarely had a decent run in the team and quite often got maybe 15mins at most in game. I think with a decent coach and played in the right position in the back row he could be quite good.

Not sure if he has signed or not though as yet.

Lauaki is frustrating for the majority of us fc fans . We can see he has potential but never seen it fully except saints away last season in the fog he was awesome . I reckon with better coaching you might see a good player i would have liked to seen him under hopefully a better coach at fc next season .

Could be a quality signing if he's used properly. Since he lost his aggression he's not been the same player. Wide on the right he could be a world beater.

I'm taking it he has been signed as back up anyway. Our 4 props when all fit next year will be fielden,prescott,mossop and lima. However we all know injuries happen so Lauaki will be there as cover I am taking it. I'd like to see us bring an experienced prop in (O'Hara?) to cover the gap left by Coleys pending retirement.

When did half the people on here become an expert in coaching all of a sudden? The Wigan coaching staff have obviously seen something in him and want too pursue his signing and in the past couple of season with IL at the helm we have not got much wrong IMO.

Dont write him off before hes even wore the cherry and white (If his signing is indeed true) We have already been half the cause Karl Price has turned out a flop with the constant boo boys on his back.

I don't think we have been the cause of Pryce being a flop at all. All through his career he's been a player with a pea sized heart.

No but It obviously didnt help his progression at the club when his own fans are booing him does it?.

Without intent on derailing this thread my post was just pointing out that we should not write of a player before hes even played for us.

He's much better as a back row forward in my opinion. If the club want him to play prop it seems like a big risk because he's never looked any good in that position.

1. Yeah it is a forum and everyone is entitled to there own opinion I respect most of the people that post on this forum BUT everyone is writing of a player before hes even played for us. IL Wane & Madge have obviously seen potential in him so why cant the fans place trust in them 3? They was not moaning when we liften the Grand Final last season was they.


2. Karl Pryces try scoring record in his career suggest other wise maybe hes not a world beater but booing your own player on home soil is not obviously not going to help him.

Any professional sportsman should go out on to the pitch and give 100% every time they play. If a player is criticised, especially by his own fans, they should do everything to prove their ability. Karl Pryce did the complete opposite of this, and spent most of his time looking uninterested and stood with his hands on his hips. Pryce turned out to be a flop at Wigan because he didnt try hard enough, and then some fans got on his back. The final nail in Pryce's coffin had to be being allowed to play against us when on loan at Quins and his resulting performances in those games (especially the game at DW)

1 Madge is not here next season so i doubt he had anything to do with the signing IL is not a coach so is the signing down to Wane?

2 I dont agree with booing players, Pryce had so many chances and didn't step up to the mark all his tries my nan could have scored them either walk ins or against small wingers, look at goulding he is no world class winger but was 2nd top try scorer last season cause of the team around him another example is that bum Ade Gardner from saints he's gash but had a bag full of tries cause of the team around him

Not sure what IL's policy is, but Mo used to sign players. Apparently John Monie was not to pleased to hear that we'd signed Frano Botica, thinking that he was told old and small to add anything to the great side of the early 90s (and he was worried about his dodgy knees). To be fair to Mo, that was one decision he got right!
