| If MM was the coach of England and we actually won a series, I bet so many people wouldn’t complain. Instead we send out international team who think defence is something that goes round de house. Low a behold we haven’t won a series since the seventies. Unless we change at international level, and to change at international level we have to play that way week in week out at the domestic level, we will never win another series against Australia or New Zealand ever again.

| Quote ="Mugwump"Give over. I worked alongside Andy Wilson in the press box for two years straight and I can assure you that - with the possible exception of Bill Arthur (who lives and breathes the club) - there is no bigger fan of Wigan working among the RL press. I remember standing in the elevator with him after Wigan's CCF loss at the Millennium and the guy was practically weeping.
We can debate the validity of the article forever, but don't try to convince me Wilson has an anti-Wigan agenda. If he does we might as well say every journo has it in for the club.'"
Shushed! Even to suggest such a thing will be taken as gospel by the more paranoid Pie fans.
The outraged squeals of media bias from a gormless few, are matched only by the deafening silence from the Club's chairman. The begrudging admission from the Club, that the tip sheets may have been altered simply adds fuel to the fire, and helps promote the view that you have something to hide.
Who would have thought, that when Kenneth Williams spouted his famous infamy, infamy line in a Carry On film, that years later it would be taken up so enthusiastically by Wigooners? ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif)

| total rubbish if you ask me. so what if its been leaked about our tactics. isn't a tactic part of the sport? its a defensive technique / tactic and as far as i'm aware is 100% legal according to the rules of the sport - therefore is not cheating.
ok so a few of our tackles, namely lima, of late have come under close scrutiny but how on earth does the sport expect its players and coaches to gain experience and skills without trying something new. the sport as far as SL is concerned is still young in comparison to many other sports so why bring it down with this utter garbage? the press should be behind the sport not against it and nobody should be criticizing any team for using fair tactics in order to win a game.
ok if it gets out of hand then deal with it then. until then, its pointless dribble so let the game be the game.
at the rate we are going there will soon be a weight cap as well as a salary cap and no squad of 17 will be allowed to be over a combined weight of 150 stone or something, just so nobody gets hurt. tick rugby here we go... ![FRUSTRATED icon_frustrated.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_frustrated.gif)

| Apart from Lima's silly antics this season, who else over the last season and a bit has actually hurt someone? If we'd sidelined half a dozen players for 2 month I'd agree, fact is that apart from Lima's incindents, the worst we can be acused of lying on in the tackle to slow the play the ball.

| Will certainly be interesting come the game at the KC. I wonder if any Hull player will be unavailable that day.
Wilson has an anti Wigan agenda, you only have to hear him on GMR or follow him on Twitter to see that. The story itself is pathetic, we have agressive defence is the upshot?
The reason why RL in the Uk will never be anything but a minority sport is people like Andy Wilson, we have a champion team, who can match it with the NRL clubs, we play to large crowds in a modern stadium, we have great facilities, youth development and push the boundaries with marketing. But that is to be shot and sniped at in an effort to influence the powers that be at Red Hall and keep reminding them that sponsors like Engage and clubs like Wakefield and people like Kear are actually big time and will make the code of League relevant.

| I've read the article, Andy Wilson needs to get a grip. There doesn't seem to be much substance to his article either. By the looks of it he is just another bitter reporter who doesn't know what he is on about, & trying to justify his wage.

You seem to be implying that Lima's "silly antics" hurt/injured someone. This is not the case.

The challenge on Soliola (think it was him) at Millenium Magic was a bad one and could have injured him. But you are correct, I don't think anyone has actually been injured by him.

Soliola didn't do or say anything about that tackle. He just got up and played the ball.

Which is a lesson to Wilkin! But doesn't make the challenge any better!

I don't suppose we can ever prove that he has an anti-Wigan agenda, despite the evidence we often see before our eyes. But whether he does or doesn't, to write an article as negative as that, based on 'evidence' so unreliable that his newspaper wouldn't let him print it, add spice with the embittered, one-eyed drivel of a micro-intellect like John Kear, and then basically present it as a form of preview to the Wigan and Saints game (a match which was always likely to prove great entertainment) is a very strange policy for someone who supposedly cares about Rugby League.
Wouldn't it be nice if someone like Wilson occassionally used his position to say: "Today you are are going to witness a magnificent spectacle of skill, athleticism and controlled aggression - two of the best sides in the country are going to rip each other to shreds in a desperate battle for two vital league points. Tune in or miss a treat."
If the response to that point is that his editor won't let him, then he should show real loyalty to RL and go and work for someone who will.

| Mr Wilson doesn't sound very anti-Wigan in the Guardian today.
