| Think wire offered him a lot more money after the 16's scholarship games! What's the lad to do? Take the lots more money of course! And by all accounts he's progressed well through the ranks! Good on him! Gotta make money while you can I suppose and they are giving him the chance he probably deserves! He was one of wigans starlets in the 16's but didn't offer him what wire did! Sure it won't be the last time this happens!

However, a number of electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Or alternatively, when they had to fill in a coal mine that had collapsed beneath the new stand.
Do you guys never tired of getting your facts wrong?

exactly right, Wigan have been there and done that, except Wigan were very very successful and dominant for a long time where as Wire have still been relatively 5hite apart from 2 trophies that a lot of fans think are not all that important anymore, keep fooling yourself, Moran will get sick of wasting money at some point

A bit more to it than that.
He played one off v the other and IL said enough was enough and wasn't prepared to be messed around.. There was also a little "bonus" from Warrington.
Good luck to the lad he looks a very good player, and he got the best deal for himself. Time will tell.

4916_1342356991.gif Rugby league must be a great game to survive the people who run it.

Simon Moron is first and foremost a businessman but some day he will get tired of using all his spare cash on a team that doesn't seem able to go the extra mile. Win a few grand finals - or even get to them - and I might agree with you.

| Some amazing in-depth knowledge of the "going-ons" within the Warrington club by the usual suspects. At the end of the day Warrington successfully secured a target player at the end of the scholarship period. It happens, Joe Mellor one that went the other way whilst Wigan out-bid Warrington for a couple of players this year (including one from Wakefield I believe - will he be classed as an ex-Wakefield player in the way Currie is being classed as an ex-Wigan player?) and Bradford out-bid Warrington and others for Bateman. I presuming that the "bonus" Warrington offered these players weren't enough or maybe that "bonus" never existed at all.
As for Moran losing interest then I would suggest that given he is the youngest owner, has been a season ticket holder, attending home and away games, for approaching 40 years and also just about the only owner who regularly attends academy fixtures then I would suggest every other club in Super League has considerably more reason to worry about potentially losing their backing than Warrington do.

| I actually think that it is great that Warrington have Moran funding them and they have come on a heck of a lot as a club since he took over. They have a new stadium which they have just extended, far bigger crowds than at Wilderspool, are spending over the salary cap and have a good team. If Super League had a few more Simon Morans to bankroll clubs and make fairly average size clubs into bigger ones then SL would be a lot stronger.

Moran is good for RL. As you say, we need more like him.
It's an indication of a certain RL mindset that some fans - particularly in the Bradford area at present - are now talking bitterly about 'sugar daddies'. It irritates me, that term. It's nearly always used in derogatory fashion, and yet in most cases you could easily replace it with 'smart owner' or 'CEO with business acumen'.
The Salary Cap doesn't allow massive spending on players any more, so the so-called sugar daddies in the game can't behave like sugar daddies even if they were inclined to. They work within the existing financial framework to produce the best and most viable clubs that they can, something Bradford clearly haven't had a clue about.
The sad truth, though, is that there are still far too many people in the game who regard these savy indivduals - Lenagan, Moran, McManus etc - as some kind of unfair advantage over the rest. The mind boggles that such an attitude persists when you consider the challenges the game is facing in the 21st century.
