| The easiest and most efficient way to save money would be to cut none necessary benefits imo. I’m sick of the people living off the system and abusing it as they are too lazy to work but the worst part of it is that we let them do it. If these people are well enough to go to the pub instead of working then they are well enough to work imo.
I’d also adopt a policy of social ownership i.e. if you cause the problem then it’s up to you to pay for the solution. How much money must be spent a year on treating idiots who get steaming at the weekend and then kick off and need hospital treatment? How much money must be spent on drug treatment centres or alcohol treatment centres? Why should we look after the smack heads and alcoholics? They made the mess of their lives and they should be forced to pay for treatment and if they can’t afford it then sadly it’s tough as money is better spent on people who deserve it.
I know that won’t sit well with some but I can’t see why normal people have to get penalised or pay for the dregs of society. I’ve gone out and got smashed like 90% of the population of Britain but I’ve never needed hospital treatment after it and to be honest if I did kick off maybe I should be forced to pay some of the cost of my actions or pay for the strain I’ve put on the health service and Police.
I’m quite liberal in terms of letting people do what they want i.e. binge drinking or taking drugs but the 2nd they can’t handle it or cross the line then I believe the system should come down hard on them and they should be forced to pay for the consequences of their actions
I realise this won’t save billions but it would be a dam good start imo.

| Quote: Steve Ella's Beard "You'd be staggered how much redundancies actually cost, and you're neglecting the massive knock on effect to the overall economy of 2 MILLION additional people on benefits, no tax income, no spending power........
We quite simply could not as a nation either afford the cost of the initial spend (redundancy payouts etc) or the effect on the economy (it would kill it stone dead). The headline grabbers of 'but we'll create 1 million manufacturing jobs' are quite simply hot air imo, as companies like mine will STILL do all their manufacturing overseas.'"
So keeping these 2 million people employed would cost less than making them redundant in the long-term?
I agree on the manufacturing front. Something drastic needs to happen. I can see a scenario where people are going to have to start working for less pay in order for us to compete on the global market.

I agree with the sentiment but where do you draw the line? Obesity is as big a strain on the NHS as anything else. Should we charge fatties that shove pies down their throats and cba getting off their backsides?

Yes imo although it isn’t as extreme as drug use, someone breaking their leg pi3$ed up or hand after kicking off.
You summed it up well in your last sentence with all the fatties who can’t be d getting off their line. It’s all about attitude I guess and taking responsibility for your actions and own body. I’ve personally put a bit of weight on this winter and now I’m trying to eat well and I’m biking to work to try and at least curb it a little. Nothing drastic but I know that it’s gonna affect my health in the long run and if I do some of the little things it might help in the long run.
Let’s face it we all know when we are unfit and the impacts it has on our health as well. If you can’t be d to do anything about it when you have the chance you shouldn’t expect doctors to jump through hoops to help you when it becomes such a problem that you can’t deal with it yourself.
Fair enough if you’re a little overweight and the doctor says you need to do this or that or it will have such an effect on your health that’s not a major strain but when they don’t take notice or implement what the doctors say is the time they should be cut off.

I'm no doctor but more fruit, vegetables, exercise and less cake sounds good to me.

Leave them alone as they harmless.
Personally I see the solution as a brand new benefit - The Burdon Benefit.
The burden benefit would be for people like myself who don’t want to work and are clogging up the job centre resources. Just think how much money is spent on people trying to get them to work via new deal especially. You can get sent to a place like A4E and they get paid for taking you on.
In fact the owner of A4E has made millions on the back of the unemployed who don’t want to work by forcing them to sit in detention centres up and down the country. The job centre help and resources is going to all the wrong people like me.
Give us a benefit that doesn’t mean trailing to the job centre then so much money can be saved. They won’t be as many job centres and you won’t need thieving places like A4E..

How much money must be spent on trying to keep Britain healthy?
Sports fields are better off been sold to property developers so that the money from the sale can go towards paying debt. PE teachers should be dropped from the educational system and be replaced with lessons about the Home Office.

Interesting notions; if we did all that then we can bring back National Service for the hefty wasters so they can be Cannon Fodder/Soldiers in Afghanistan etc.

If it was my choice we’d do what Cyprus and Turkey do which is two years of compulsory army training starting from when your 18.
I’d be omitted of course thanks to dislocating my knee several times playing rugby league.

You’ve got to remember I come from Yorkshire and we use water bottles (wrapped in cloth) as make do rugby balls. Just like they do in PNG.
