Hardly surprising really when he hasn't been sure which team he would be playing for from one week to the next. I still hope he makes it as you can't beat enthusiasm like he and the Tomkins lads have.'"

| Quote: fido "Also harsh and totally wrong. Look at your own comment - after seeing him once - goes to show you are actually a hater. One game doesn't make or break a career. And what game did you actually see? the first one he every played for first team Wigan - oh yeh wasn't he MOM in that one? The one (two actually) he scored 4 tries. The list goes on. It's about time some fans got behind the players (and I mean all of them not just Ainscough) and gave them something to play for.
Comments like yours are uncalled for and totally biased. And before you start with the 'Ainy tainted glasses crap' I would say the same for any player that was judged so harshly without reason!'"
I saw enough the first time I saw him defensively to make up my own mind that he wouldn't last at Wigan, and I posted it on here, why do you think he went out on loan to Widnes, surely if he was this fantastic free scoring unstoppable winger you suggest he is he would be first choice??? no, he isn't though, because defensively and under a high ball he's absoulutely useless. Madge clearly agrees with me. I predict he wont be at Wigan in the next 2 years, he'll end up in NL1, its he's level. There is a reason why he has played one game at Wigan this season, and he only got called back for that game because of an injury crisis! Dont know why you are getting so defensive anyway, its quite embarrasing.

A player develops as he plays at higher levels. Defence can be improved and the coaches are there to ensure this.
What actually is embarrasing is 'so called' fans willing to have a go at young players just breaking into the game instead of realising they may have room for improvement in some areas but that will come with experience.

Brilliant.
Reminds me of my owd dad (god rest his soul), he was a carpet fitter and on a shopping trip to Manchester in the early 90's saw a billboard for "Inspiral Carpets" and thought it was a new firm opening up.

He's 20, not 17. You pick basic defence up when your in the under 10s. Its alright going on about how many tries he's scored, but how many has he let in? Against Harlequins for example, he came back for one game and failed to not just catch, but even jump for the high balls put to him, resulting in 2 tries. First we fired him off to Cas, and now Widnes, please explain to me why we would do this if he was a fantastic winger?? He's fast, thats it. There's nothing more I love to see than a young Wiganer coming through the ranks and playing for his home town club, but on this particular occasion he's made it clear he's to much of a liability, and as I said, in my opinion will end up in NL1.

| You can't fault his desire to make it as a wigan player and for that i wish he would. However he is, and never will be good enough. He lacks what many people refer to as a 'rugby brain', that instinct to be in the right place at the right time whether it be in attack or defense. However good the coach that cannot be tought. National league is his level and, with regret that is where he will end up.

He will be a SL winger for his career, Cas would have him in a heartbeat. He has much more than pace as well, he has fantastic strength and agility. Sadly i think there are issues beyond his playing that will ensure he does not full fill his potential at Wigan.

| Is this the same Ainscough that some said HAD to be the side above Roberts?

I cannot understand this argument. i am a big fan of Roberts and his form this year has been awesome, but in his first season he struggled and showed some massive frailties same with Richards in his first season to be fair. Bear in mind these 2 were top class experienced NRL players when they came to us, what was their issue confidence, so many are quick to slate a junior player with obvious ability but certain flaws, and wonder why he struggles.
The same people slated Pryce who with a run of games has gained confidence and opinion changes.
The best though is Goulding who has walked 95% of his tries in all year and been shakey on defence to say the least but some make him out to be top class.
I do not live in Wigan, but I can only assume Ainscough must have upset a lot of people off the field to get the stick he does after the returns he has provided, and the latitude offered to other lads in his position.
