Correct it's not my business. And that's why I'm not slagging off anyone. My point is I'm sick of reading posts on here about why people can't get to games. Bores the hell out of me but they feel the need to justify themselves to people they've never met on here.

| Bottom line is the club aren't that bothered about losing a few games in the regular season because the current system means the overall aim is not affected and some clubs don't present any form of challenge to our first choice 17. On that basis fans will also decide which games they don't mind missing and they may also decide they don't need to commit to attending every home game in the same way the club don't have to commit to playing their strongest 17 to win every home game. You reap what you sow I'm afraid.
What did surprise me is the number of ST holders that normally sit around me that didn't bother turning up on Friday. A game we obviously wanted to win, against tough opposition, with a decent away following and the last home game until February.

I have never ever agreed with you before, but that statement is absolutely spot on. I am sick and tired of some RL supporters wanting something for nothing. It's exactly the same at Wire, people constantly moaning. The same people are always at the front of the queue when it comes to finals.

| Quote Lippy="Lippy"After the we wish him well bit and does not blame him for going to test himself he blamed the other clubs for not being competitive enough to give us a league that is more attractive. He named games against Salford and Widnes where players know they don't have to play at full intensity to win. He blamed the[u clubs[/u and not the RFL as its them who have to take lessons from how Wigan treat the U19 and other age groups and how it puts you in good stead. If more clubs invested in youth the league would be more competitive and then players would be less likely to want to go and test them self in a better league.
He is right, more competitive games will generate more interest from fans, sponsorship and give the game more power when discussing TV rights.'"
Did he say what you have written in the last sentence there or is that your conclusion? I agree by the way but the reason I ask is if he didn't he's missing the obvious in that even if Widnes etc were more competitive unless the money flows into the game and into the players pockets they will still leave.
While its also interesting he blamed the clubs and I don't disagree with that, I don't think we are blame-free as a club either. We let players leave without much of a fight and so are thus contributing to any lowering of standards in the game. There has been a thread recently where it was suggested our chairman's apparent wish to be a big fish in a small pond was as far the ambition went and I don't think we can seriously blame other clubs for Sam's departure given the nature of the contract he signed. Sam might very well think the sport here is not competitive enough but it is IMO a bit of a cop out to use that as an excuse for Sam's departure. It's almost as if he is saying our best players may as well follow suit which is the wrong message. Has the clubs management raised the white flag in attempts to have the best players here and are they trying to blame others for this?

No, we can't. Bayern Munich get far more than RL. Do you really think that if Wigan halved their prices they would double their gates? They would get an increase, but would lose a lot of money. The name bradford Bulls springs to mind.

| Its called perspective, I as a fan in the free world demand to watch my team at £10 a go. Bayern Munich is run by the fans for the fans, do a little research and you'll find the Germans have got it spot on. Anything is possible if it is managed properly with the right motives.

I couldn't agree more about the German model when it comes to football. They have a great system typified by the 50%+1 rule of ownership. Having said that you can't just pitch up in Munich one weekend and expect to get a £10 ticket on a terrace, but the principle remains and having been to Germany to watch Fussball I can discuss this all night,
But this is an RL forum and the rules of ownership and price structure can never be compared with RL.

| No but having to pay for an expensive ticket to make up for the failings of the game is almost like paying for the failings of bankers and I won't be brain washed into either. The German fans boycotted matches and the clubs listened, thats a lesson our football clubs are frightened of. However, rugby clubs could do something similar because there arent the bigtime players in RL like there are in football. Similarly look at box nation- where the boxers created their own station which gives them more power to govern themselves and attract advertisers. Anything is possible....

I didn't say I couldn't go, I just said I can't be 4rsed..... despite the wealth of talent we have at Wigan, both at senior and under 19s level, because the wealth of talent isn't reciprocated throughout superleague, most of the games are about as exciting as cramp, as somebody put it earlier I'm not buying a season ticket to watch substandard opposition and our team not trying so hard. And when you haven't got a season ticket you kind of get out of the habit and then you suddenly realise there's more to life.

Do you perhaps think, that maybe that might be due to them getting relegated - just a guess -
