I am praying that Carmont and Hoffman won't have to leave. You just can't replace that talent.

Pat staying would be huge, but we would still need some experience if as expected Deacon, Carmont & Coley go.

Thats where the signings of a centre and a halfback become key for me, we need quality and experience, not the easiest combination to get.

Hopefully Carmont will do another year - best year in a Wigan shirt by far IMO, and I cant think of a better centre in the SL at the moment - he also looks faster than he ever has so surely he could go round again?

Other than that, can cope with losing the rest IMO - Deacon is rarely fit anyway, Finch has never really hit the straps so you cant miss what you havent had, and we have bags of talent at SR to step into Hoffman's shoes.

For me we need to keep Paat, Carmont, and Tommy (if theres any truth in him being off) above all else.

Pretty sure the Souths Chairman won't have needed Maguire to point him in Pats direction. Proven NRL winger still under 30, form of his career in winning MoS, top try scorer, top points scorer, having just won the grand final and is OOC at the end of the year.

I'd be suprised if Souths were the only NRL club to have offered him a contract.

If Madge needs a winger he could do us all a favour and take Amos with him..PLEEEASE

Assuming players fulfill their contracts, we will still have Finch, Tommy, Mellor and Sam who can play halfback whereas we're lacking specialist hookers. Plus we miss the creative nous Riddell provided around the ruck.

Good shout about the hooker signing. A good experienced hooker to come in for a year or two and slowly bring logan tomkins through. Or get Logan in off the bench next year and keep tommy at 7.

We've found the 'rlfans scapegoat' for 2011.

Got to disagree with the bit in red. Deacon imo was integral to our team last year and I don't think it's a coincidence that we've improved on the pitch since he returned from his injury this season. I've given Finch some stick but, as others have said, he's got proven class and this is starting to shine through, you may regret that by the end of the season. Hoffman is world class, simple as that, you can't just replace him with any other SR, he will be a huge loss.

Maybe - take the point, and we are far better with deacs, yet realistically what has he got left in him, so on that basis I would view him at far less of a loss than tommy, carmont, paat or any of the others.

Finch - yes we have seen some class there but we've managed thus far without finch so couldnt see him being a massive loss.

Hoffman - undoubtedly world class and as good as fletcher was for us IMO, however we are in the privalaged position of having far more than 'any other SR' to replace him. We have two W/c backrowers already at the club in Farrell and Tomkins, one (baring moronic decisions and brain farts) who is borderline W/c due to return, and two others in back, up HH and Tuson, who are far better than most SRs in superleague.

Therefore comparitively I think Deacon, Hoffman, or finch would be far less a loss than Richards, Carmont or Tommy, and I would sooner all three of the former go providing we dont lose any of the latter 3.

I've only seen Logan play once (on tv the other week), but he looks bloody promising. Carberry must be fantastic if he's better than Tomkins.

Carberry must be good then coz people were on here a few years back saying we aint seen nothing yet and Logan is by far the most promising of the three so I hope they were right because that would make this carberry guy amazing.

Logan still has a long way to go. He needs to sort out his distribution.

Seen Logan a few times at U20s now but nothing strikes me about him that makes me think hes the best tomkins as some make out!! Offers little more than Sam Gee did at present IMO. Sturdy but nothing special. Hope he will make it but hes massively overhyped currently due to his brothers.

Logan isn't as good as his brothers were at that age but hooker is probably a harder position to excel in. If you're a scooting hooker you stand out more but will be found out as one dimensional at the top level.
Logan isn't as average as some make out though, he wasn't great last year but he was a stand out player in the under 20's this year and as much as Carberry is getting high praise when both Tomkins and Carberry have been in the same side the team has looked noticeably worse when Tomkins was off the field, in fact Carberry's distribution has looked worse and Tomkins seems to be all round the more skilful player.
He does have to work on his distribution, the Widnes-Toulouse game highlighted that but his passing off the ground isn't consistently poor like McIlorum's was at an early age, he just has a tendency to throw some erratic passes. His vision seems to be excellent though, he has enough skill to make it and his defence and work rate is excellent.

I think that it was on the rumour thread that a poster hinted at Tommy not being here and following madge to the NRL but certainly nothing concrete,
