Generally, no weight on the ankle is permitted for 4 weeks following repair of the syndesmosis, and rehabilitation with physical therapy and exercise begins at that time. It is important to avoid any twisting of the ankle for 6-8 weeks to avoid further loosening of the syndesmosis ligament tear, as well as allow sufficient time for the deltoid ligament to heal. Return to athletic activity takes anything from 8 to 12 weeks following surgical repair.

8 weeks would see him back around Challenge Cup Final time.
12 weeks would see him back for the play-offs (if at all).

| I would expect the RFL to be paying Tommy's wages until either the end of the season or until he pulls on a C&W shirt again. If this is not the case I would expect all Wigan players to be withdrawn from the next fixture.

Why?
Tommy presumably wanted to play and we let him.
I would expect Wigan to do everything they can to stop our players from playing in future Exiles matches however.

| unfortunately injuries happen he could of been injured in your next game against the demics!
but the england v exiles is a good concept adds more of a test than any other game and more excitement than the old lancs v yorks games.
and the person who said the exiles team dont have international caps etc
brett hodgson - origin NSW only never put on aussie shirt due to a certain billy
joel monas - origin and international aus
daryl millard - fiji? international
sia soliola - PNG? international
meli - unsure tink he has played international
luilui - nz international
dureau - uncapped but in a position where lockyer and thurston played
lima - nz international
hohia - nz international
puletua - international honours
waterhouse - origin and international for aus
manu - international
fa'alongo - unsure
there is plenty of experience and skill in there to give a great contest and they take it seriously as you could tell by tommy putting body on the line. If england are going to get better internationally they need more of these types of games rather than walking over France, ireland and wales no disrespect to them.
but all the best to Tommy and lets hope he is not out too long it is never good to see a talented player out.

If he had done this in an Anzac game I'd be bothered because I don't want him injured but I'd accept it. That is a recognised an important International fixture.
This is nothing of the kind and is akin to him making an impromptu appearance for St. Pats and doing the same. I'd have been as fuming if Sam had done the same when he played for the Barbarians in RU.
The only games our players should be involved in outside of club games during the season are full internationals. We do not need the Exciles game at all. We never used to have them and there is no need for them now.

I actually said current internationals not previous internationals. And I also said Aus and NZ internationals not Fiji PNG etc. Also Hodgson didn't wear the green and gold because of Lockyer more than Slater. And Hodgson made 6 appearance in 4 series so only played half games he was in the squad for and didn't make that level for his last 2 years in NRL so again no current internationals or players who left NRL as SOO players.

And what was illegal?
I only ask as he seemed to have been a half second late from being able to wrap the ball up. Is it the illegal clash of thigh on thigh in a tackle that looks fine or some other slight against the rugby gods?

They may not be of the same standard as aus but are alot better challenge than playing France. You may not like the exiles concept but at the moment it is better option than what we used to have.
My concern is that with the increased cap and strong aus $ the standard of player coming to SL will drop and kill the concept.
Personally I liked the roses matches but sadly our sport is very insular and club based as proved by some on this thread. We mostly care for for our little clubs. Boo other players from teams we don't like or moan and want the concept stopped when a player from our club gets injured.
With our general attitude (not just Wigan I mean all SL clubs) we will never succeed internationally

It's not the attitude of the fans that means we aren't competing with Aus and NZ, it's the calibre of the players. Why do so few people understand this?

Is it balls.
I was there and, believe me, it was sh*te. The fans weren't interested, the exiles weren't interested and I've never been so bored watching rugby league in my life, and I sat through all 80 minutes of Salford 5-2 Catalans.
The entertainment value was nil, and a properly thought out Lancs Yorks would be so much better - at least the fans could dislike each other.
It's a useless, useless concept.

| Bad Luck Tommy, but theres now an opportunity for someone to step up. Our youngsters haven't let us down for a long long time. Perhaps we'll discover someone with the impact Sam's made. Useful testing everyone out. But no doubt there will be calls to panic buy and end up with some one we dont need.

Does that really make much of a difference internationally though? I really dont think it does. It is like saying France is a step up on Wales but it means sweet FA when Australia and NZ are 10 step ups from that. Much the same applies when you talk about the Exiles. Indeed on tonights showing I would even wonder how much of a step up it actually is on France. England should have beaten the Exiles by plenty tonight, 20+ easily and that is being generous. That Exiles team wasnt a good team by any means and most of them didnt look bothered and they played like strangers. The most laughable thing for me was when Leuluai said to Waterhouse (I think it was him) for him to take an inside ball, Waterhouse couldnt understand so Leuluai generously demonstrated to Waterhouse (and the England players) what he meant. The play was promptly run and Waterhouse smashed. That is the sort of rubbish standard the match was. It was awful and the intensity was poor.
