| Quote: Last Son of Wigan "He was desperate to leave the club. Wigan have his contract, Hock couldn't sign for a rival as Wigan wouldn't allow that. Signing for Widnes for a fee was best for the club, as they want something in return for one of their star players, and of course for Gaz who really wanted out.'"
If, as you say, he wanted to sign for a rival - I'm guessing Saints, Warrington or Leeds - then 'his issue' could not really have been as terrible as some people are suggesting. If he'd legged it to Aus, I'd be more inclined to believe that something really worrying was going on in Gareth's life. But no, he wanted to go down the road.
As things are, and on the basis of what you've admitted - he felt he was owed more than the club was giving him (incredibly, IMO), he was using distasteful methods to try and wheedle more money out of our club, he then had a big-fall out with Wane and told the chairman he would never play for us again (in the possible expectation that he would be sacked and have engineered a free transfer for himself - which would be money our club had lost out on).
Hock is even more diminished in my eyes.

| Hock was banned. Wigan stood by Hock and offered him both a contract and rehabilitation to help him in the long run. Hock signed said contract presumably agreeing with all the contents. Hock then had two wage increases on top of the original contract, which you may or may not believe were deserved. Hock then believes he is worth more than he is being paid, even though he agreed to the original contract and the two subsequent pay increases.
So the question has to be asked, why did he sign the contract if he believed it was so below him? Has he forgotten all the support Wigan gave to him? If indeed he did use the interest from Oz to demand a higher wage, then the club has every right to refuse.
There could well be more to this than has been announced. But it seems there is no arguing that Hock wanted more money, the club didn't believe he deserved this money. Whether this is the main issue or not, I believe this shows that Hock very quickly forgot how the club stood by him. You can argue that he is entitled to do this, after all he is just an employee at a place of work the same as any of us, but you'd like to think that he would have showed some loyalty to those who stuck by him. The silence from Hock's corner in response is absolutely deafening.

| I'm surprised he hasn't responded too. He sold a story about the cocaine ban (during the ban) for £30k, so surely he'd be able to make some money off selling a story here, unless there are legal issues or something else holding him back.
Anyway, reasons for leaving aside, we've just lost one of our best players. I would really hope that's there's going to be a replacement, but I doubt it. :/

| Basically, going off what Gareth, er sorry, Last son of Wigan has been saying, it appears that Gareth and Wane have had some falling out, over which is purely speculation. Gareth then spat his dummy out, and tried to hold the club to ransom. Lenegan was having none of it, and Gareth has found himself languishing at a bottom of the table club with no future honours looking likely in his career.

| Don`t tell me Wanes been peering at him in the showers and giving him that come on look and now he wants to leave because he is uncomfortable with the attention.
Allegedly of course.

| Hock is still a Wigan employee so perhaps that is why there hasn't been any response from him or his agent.

| Hock has responded in an interview with the Sun. Said that only 'some of what is said is true' and he is sadden that Wigan decided to make the dispute public.

| Cant see him ever coming back, even if Wane moves on, Widnes have the option of a 2nd year.
Ok, in this i back our Chairman and coach. No player is bigger than the club, and i admire the clubs refusal to be held to ransom.
Ellery Hanley tried it years ago, and we shipped him out eventually, and as good as Hock is, hes certainly no Hanley.
Move on, Let the kids through.
When Hanley went it was doom and gloom and "how will we replace him"...Step up young Phil Clarke and Andy Faz, and the rest is history.
just wondering which player(s) will emerge and go on to be Wigan greats.
No gloom here, just excitement, wondering who this/these players will be.
