| Quote: NickyKiss "Read an interview today where he said he had three things going through his mind-
Charging it down
Shaking the sticks
Throwing a spare ball at Corey Parker
Ha ha. The blokes nuts! Like you say Ted the game lacks characters so he's refreshing.
He's a cracking young player as well. Big and strong, decent pace and a big heart. He's the type who's handling will take a while to get going but he'll be fine.'"
When he charged at the ball I would have loved to have seen him gather it and go the length of the field, what's the odds that one or two of the Brisbane players would have given chase.

| Am I not right in thinking that charging down a place kick is still allowed in Rugby Union although only for a conversion not for a penalty. Incidentally I thought the penalty was a bit harsh.

| I'm just not a Gelling fan.
Can't knock his commitment or work rate but he's one dimensional.
The reason why he makes yardage is that we haven't got the big guys to do the heavy work when we are in our own half.
If this is how we want to play then sell Charnley as he is waste of salary cap at the moment due to lack of passes. Reminds me of when we had Dallas - great winger but never gets the chance to show it.
I'd like to see him the second row but if SW thought he would be better there then I'm sure we would have seen this before now.
My points may seem illogical but I just don't want to see centres trundling the ball in on every occasion they get the ball.

I'm not knocking Gelling, he does the best he can with the attributes he's got. It's for me, a tad disappointing that following Gleeson, who was superb and Goulding, who was almost as good, we as a club haven't been able to maintain these high standards at centre.

Like all the issues people raise here about players in certain positions, it's all down to money, or rather lack of it. If the money now available to the NRL was around when Gleeson was in his pomp, he would not have been at Wigan.

Goulding was excellent for us in 2012 and 2013, but he was nowhere near as good as Gleeson, and Gelling isn't any worse than Goulding. When you watch back how many assists Goulding got the vast majority of them came because Sam Tomkins had created the overlap and space leaving DG just needing to tip the ball on to his winger. He struggled a lot more in 2014 once ST had gone.

I'd love Sam back!
Sarginson and Gelling would have a field day with him drifting across the field.

He cops a lot of stick from the people that sit near me too.
Personally I like him a lot. He brings size and energy to the team.
Charnley has been starved of the ball this year, but he was starved of it last year too - all of our moves seemed to go from right to left.

They went left because Sarginson early on offered nothing and Gelling made yards.
As I say I'm not anti Gelling but if he is the type of player who we think personifies good play and how we want to go forward get rid of speedy wingers and get a winger who can kick or compete for a high ball from a kick. Ah Van fits the bill!

| So did Pat Richards.
Actually, i was never that much of a fan of Gleeson; I'd have rated Carmont a much better centre.

Sam was the icing on the cake for us but I'm not sure Gelling has the same skill that Goulding had in being able to tip the ball on. Defensively Goulding was miles better and as for his last season with us, he played carrying injuries as did Charnley for that matter that most people wouldn't have been able to get out of bed with, let alone play rugby.
