| With a good coach we would still be in the World Cup. Poor selection policy, Ablett not used, Burrow 15 woeful minutes poor tactics etc.
We have the makings if a good team. A fearsome starting pack and some good young players.
Wane needs to be given a chance to build towards the next World Cup and the first thing he needs to do is advise, Burrow, Westwood, and Sinfield to retire and make Burgess the captain.

Not sure anyone can blame a 2 point loss against the Kiwis on McN (wasn't it a Graham penalty that gifted it to them at the end of the day). I'm not that much of a fan, but knee-jerk baying for blood helps nobody.
Smith resigned as full-time coach because we was bored, Wane would be taking a major step backwards if he left us for the national side. There simply aren't the number of games (at the moment) to justify the job. Additionally, I would guess that McN knows he needs to maintain his position, because he's actually not rated as a coach that any of the SL clubs would jump to recruit (lower leagues maybe, but I don't think he's that much of a philanthropist).
Also - HANDS OFF ! Personally I'd like to see the Ape swinging around the DW (and Wembley & Old Trafford) for a couple of years more at least.

Knee jerk? He should never have been given the job. You think playing the World Champions with only 16 players was good coaching?
Having 3 players walk out or leave camp? Being poor against most teams in the comp?
Only selecting Widdop for today etc etc etc.
The man has consistently failed as our coach.
The England job is not a full time role, it does not need to be anyway. Wane could comfortably do both.
It was Burgess by the way who gave away the penalty off the back of shocking kick selection by Sinfield.

Knee-jerk on the back of today's effort, not the campaign as a whole, which has been dire, inconsistent and very poorly managed (& it's not just McN to blame for that).
As I said, I'm no fan of the man as a coach or tactician (and my expletive replete rant in the middle of the office when he was appointed is still mentioned in dispatches - luckily there weren't that many in that day) . But if there's going to be a cogent argument for replacing him it shouldn't start 5 minutes after such a game as this afternoon. Take a deep breath, step back and calmly list the many reasons why he should be given the push. But don't also then demand that any successful SL coach should take his place. I'm often minded that a national coach should be someone with more than a couple of years' experience with the nous & guile to be able to cope with anything because they've seen it all before.
(and I'll sit corrected on the blame for the penalty)

| The discussion for him being replaced was done and finished long before this World Cup.
His contract is now up I believe, he knows he will be gone I suspect.
It's just a matter about making the appointment.

| If Macbanana was Wigan coach what would we think?
He is not Super league standard so why is he our national coach.
Sinfield needs to retire and hopefully IFL can change the RFL enough to stop the national coach picking Leeds players.
I don't get why Sir KeV was our scrum half when that is not his normal position

It would depend how he did?
About 3 weeks before the Grand Final a lot of people on here were saying Wane was rubbish, one dimensional and had no Plan B, just like everyone was slagging off McBanana before today and had it not been for a George Burgess penalty giving the Kiwis a last chance, we would be in the World Cup final and he would have been hailed as a hero.
I think McNamara is fine to stay as England coach tbh. But if he does leave and the vacancy is open I still say its Wane at the top of the list for me. I don't have any divided loyalties over Wane with Wigan so I can say honestly I would be happy with his appointment to the England job as I've been very impressed. We produce few enough good coaches in England so we should get behind Wane.

A loud minority have been questioning everything Wane did since his appointment as part of an ongoing 'we are dissatisfied with Wigan' campaign, which mainly existed on the other website. Since the double was done, those responsible - on both this site and that one - have been noticeable for either their absence or their amazing change of tone. But as soon as something 'goes wrong' next season - we either lose a key match, or a players gets disciplined for unacceptable behaviour - it will all start again.
Don't forget, an awful lot of us used to be called 'happy clappers'.

I'm going to bookmark your post, because we all know they will come out of the woodwork at the first signs of anything going wrong. I wonder who the 2014 scapegoat will be?

If we Huddersfield beat us in game 1 and Bowen doesn't score it'll be him. Otherwise I can see Pettybourne copping plenty stick

| I had a wobbler against Wane during that purple patch coming to the back end of the season but mainly because i thought we had run out of steam like season before, but he put every doubter in their place.

Same here. Totally understandable.
But there were others for whom he could do no right.
