| They shouldn't be allowed to do that. With credit cards fine, but debit cards are a direct bank transfer.

I think it is ridiculous that they charge for debit card's. I buy 4 season ticket's 3 are xmas present's so i would have been charged £10 if i had used my debit card. So i write a cheque out which i think is a pain. But no way will i pay £10 when i spend £789.

It's stupid really. There is no charge for using a debit card for matchday tickets, why for season tickets?

| A lot of companies actually give discounts to customers paying with debit cards - there is still a minimal charge for debit transactions (about 15p IIRC, compared to 2-4% for credit cards). I work in online retail and all of our fees are calculated into the SP, there is zero transparency and it's a much better business model for it.
Business know most people have no choice but to pay it. And at the end of the day, a 1% fee is not a lot compared to other places. The worst is probably cinemas where the fee is about 30% of the cost of the ticket.
Paying for the privilege to purchase is profiteering, plain and simple. Either add it onto the overall cost of the ticket or don't charge it at all, it just es your customers off. Wigan will probably claim it's an admin or postage fee or something silly. Whereas it will most likely go straight to IFL's pension.

| I got stung yesterday for 4 x £2.50, not to mention having to pay 10p a minute from a BT line and God only knows what from a mobile. I work away in the week and with summer holidays booked I had to wait until the fixtures were out before committing to renewing. It leaves a bit of a bitter taste when they're charging the debit card fee four times for one transaction especially in these tough economic times and in the run up to Christmas.
I'm not even sure whether or not it's legal. It's certainly not ethical.

| Got my 2 yesterday but contemplated drawing cash to avoid £2.50 x 2.
It would have cost for petrol and time lost at work so, they've got a fiver off me.
Originally went for the car park too as I had done for years - £2.50 x 3 !!!
There's no choice of card as you'd expect when buying on line, so no way of avoiding the charge.

| So now the renewal deadline has gone, anyone know how many STs have been sold and how it compares with this time last year?
(I know 6000 were sold at some point last week)
The club are noticeably quite on the subject of sales which suggests a significant dip in take up.

Chicago, the windy city.
Have fun. I believe early sales of Wigan tv were something like 20% overseas.

| The club said they were approaching 7,000 a few days before they extended the renewal deadline.
I can't see sales being anything but down but if they can creep it up to 8,500-9,000 they'll be doing pretty well.

| The last time the club said anything about season tickets it was that sales were ahead of the same time last year.
The thought not to renew never occured to me.
Fixtures are out, squad details announced and season tickets bought.
Looking forward to next season already!

| I've not renewed this year for a couple of reasons. Financial and the fact that my lad now trains with Wigan Harriers on a Friday night.
Kids are rubbish. They spoil everything!

| Saints have sold 8457 at last count.
Will Saints sell more than Wigan this year?

Saints have been selling them since June. Wigan have been selling them for about a month.
But to answer your question I guess we'll find out in February.
