I put on Twitter, if Sky insist on using these rubbish gimmicks they could at least use it to try and draw an extra sponsor in, like they have Keno replays or KFC man of the match during the NRLs coverage. "The BetFred Margin Meter says..." It is even more tacky and American/Australianish but at least it could bring in some more money.

The other thing that was really annoying me was the tackled players name coming up on the tackle counter graphic, it kept putting the wrong name or just repeating the last players name.

haha the most pointless thing ever. Probably some sort of ploy to get people betting with sky bet in play.... The whole of twitter went margin meter crazy which was entertaining though!

The Sky commentary was laughably bad tonight, it's basically a room full of people talking over each other to get their own opinions across and then every now and then Clarkey chips in with a load of pointless stats or compares it to another sport. They're hardly calling the game at all! We need one commentator with a co-commentator during the game and a presenter with 2/3 pundits pre/post match/half time in the studio. Keep Jon Wells doing what hes doing now and have a touchline presenter keeping up to date with news from the bench.

Yep. Being saying it for years. Why they can't seperate studio from commentary box like every other sport that is broadcast by Sky Sports is beyond me.

It made me cringe when I saw Clarky dressed up like an Undertakers clerk,showing his Margin Meter and then his coloured building blocks and waffling on about how good it was for the game.

I had visions of Sky Sports executives sat round a table in their underpants (to give the occasion some dignity) working out this complete load of crap.

There were far too many statistics. I honestly didn't have a clue what they were on about half the time. They had some kind of bingo card, then some kind of chart. They'll be doing pie charts and brainstorms next.

Are RL fans the most negative people in the world? We had a superb =#FF0000four hour RL programme and some want to moan about something that is reality inconsequential.

As for the margin meter, I don't care but it's got people talking which can't be a bad thing.

It was so bad it was funny.

I have nothing against the principle of trying new things, and indeed in some situations statistics can indeed show the underlying reason why things happen.

HOWEVER, this is not an example of that. It's obvious to anyone who has played/watched RL over the years that momentum is a very very important part of the game. A team can dominate for 70 mins but if momentum shifts in the final 10, then the result will be dramatically affected.

The momentum meter is about as much use as a pair of those "X ray specs" that used to be sold........

Just because it was four hours long doesnt automatically mean it was good. I thought the red button stuff was excellent, most of the build-up hour was them introducing all the new bits. The in-game commentary was as bad as ever and the game wasnt bad but hardly a classic. People were talking about the margin meter but 95% of what I read was negative. Phil Clarke is determined to overcomplicate the sport.
