20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

The main thing ( though not the only thing) I enjoy about RU is the forward play. The contest at the scrum, ruck and maul, and to a lesser extent lineout. Watching a prop slowly dismantle his opponent over the course of a match; the body position of a wing forward such as McCaw entering the ruck/maul; the timing of the lift/jump/throw at a lineout; the footwork of a No8 at the scrum etc etc I find the technical aspects of the forward play fascinating.'"

| One of the most irritating things anyone has ever said to me was in a conversation about the relative merits and flaws of RL / RU. Apparently according to some drunken RU supporting tourist in the Costas, Rugby league is too stop start.
Makes you wonder whether he's ever watched a game of rugby union.
P.S. Have to also add to this post that whilst the game of RU bores me to tears like most on here, anyone who plays a sport as tough and brutal as rugby deserves massive respect. Especially when you compare the two codes to a certain other sport with a rounder ball.

An earlier poster asked what the attraction of RU was. And although I wouldn't dream of speaking for other people, I thought it might be useful to give my reasons for watching the occasional game of RU on the tv.

It doesn't matter. After a post like your previous one, you still can't be for real.

the body position of a wing forward such as McCaw entering the ruck/maul

| just looked at the online ticketing, saying we have less than 3500 tickets left. just over 1200 sold in 1 and half days. Accept there has been a block removed for bulls fans as North is closed, but could be a big turn out. Anyone think the North might be opened to Wigan fans if alot more of the tickets are sold for walk up supporters???

As I've posted on here on many occasions in the past, an 'unavailable' ticket doesn't necessarily mean a 'sold' ticket.

Well as many know on here my son plays RU out of necessity and so I get to see at first hand what the fuss is supposed to be about. It's all in the forwards so they say. Scrummaging, the ruck and maul and the line out are all an art form apparently. It's an aspect of the game only those with initiated into the art can appreciate is how it's made out to be. The fact scrums get reset five times, half the players have no idea why the ruck or maul resulted in a penalty and so on is not a problem.
RU was Ok at junior level (fewer players on the pitch than 15 , no line outs and scrums not a big deal) but as the progression through the ages has resulted in the full set of rules being played its got worse to watch to the extent its a pain. My lad plays on the wing and can go an entire game without receiving a pass. Half the time its because the outside centre dropped the ball in shock at it actually getting out that far.

I actually played wing for a mate's yawnion team once. I nearly got trenchfoot. Think I got my hands on the ball twice. Spent the rest of the game chasing any and all kicks just to keep warm. Never again

29281_1270406980.jpg When Maurice sold me to Leeds something changed, it just not the same, the passion inside me just wasn’t the same as running out at Central park for my hometown club.
We need a change of culture here; we don’t want to be just happy with playing ok on Saturday at St Helens.
Ill make sure that from now on things will change, that players will be under pressure and will train a lot harder than they have before.

How the Premier League table would look if teams were awarded points for famous fans...

| Only around 3.5K left for Friday, so I make that 15K sold already!! Great effort for dead rubber and may even get a decent walkup to make take the att over 16K.

| believe it or not I have a recurring dream where I have to play union and @I opt to play full back. I receive the ball and run straight at the line. The opposition are so shocked at this revolutionary tactic that I breeze the full length of the fielkd to score. This tactic works with continued success. I don't why I have this dream but I'd like to think it says more about yawnion than my subconsciois.

A lot of Union fans say that. Never understood it either myself tbh.
I'm a fan of both btw.
