| Quote: Abacus "My lad got FIFA 11 for the Xbox for Christmas - I lol'ed when I saw the state of the JJB pitch, they have modelled in a computer game, three huge bald patches, whereas Old Trafford looks like a billiards table in comparison.
Unfortunately the game publishers Electronic Arts, despite their efforts at pitch accuracy, did get one thing wrong however, as they also showed the JJB as being full at a Latics match.'"
The JJB/DW isn't on FIFA 11...
is it?

Matty, I was always told to speak as I see.
Why would extra games at the stadium, and less revenue (if Latics are relegated) benefit Wigan RL?
I can't see it.
And if small minded Wigan RL fans see advantages then I'm quite open for an honest discussion.
I remember back in the 70's a shop steward calling a strike at a firm where I was working (I wasn't employed there, we provided engineering services) and he said we showed them at the last place I worked.
I said "Why what happened"
His reply "We closed the factory"

| Brian, I'm sure that if Huddersfield Giants can manage in their 26k all seater stadium with their groundshare with a non Premier League football team with their support (50% less than Wigan), plus their heavily reduced income due to their over generous chairman practically giving away Season Tickets to their supporters then I'm sure we will manage more than comfortably. Same goes for Hull FC.

How long do you think Ken Davy can (will) subsidise the losses?
Huddersfield have never been a Premier League team.
The KC is owned by Hull Council, and Hull City only ever played for two seasons in the Premiership.
Look at the prices YOU pay at both those grounds.

The point is that both football clubs will turn over considerably more than the Latics should they be relegated, and therefore the potential for being a strain on their rugby co-tenant is considerably less. Huddersfield Town average nearly 14k in Division 1 and Hull City nearly 21k in the championship, figures the Latics will get nowhere near should they be relegated.
Thankfully our owner and Chairman isn't as small minded as some of our fans and sees that Latics in the Premiership is in our best interests.

But at the same time he needs to be realistic that Latics won't be in the Premier League forever and will need to (if he's not already) put contingency plans in place for when they do so.
Dave Whelan has already tipped the press off that he's looking to offload the football in the near future, who's to say that our rates won;t change under new stadium ownership (whether Latics are still in the Premier League or not)?

The point was Hudds are NOT a Premier League team despite having to share a similar sized stadium.
Regards the prices, we have had it too good this last decade with admission prices - where most other SL teams have been charging as much if not more to stand in grotty stadiums, whilst we have had excellent facilities, great views whilst seated in warmth and under cover (i'd go so far to say Wigan have under sold on admission).
I certainly wouldn't begrudge the Wigan club putting up prices in line with other SL clubs (especially now we have a Champion side). In addition it's about time some of these Yorkshire clubs pay the prices their clubs charge for a change.

Indeed, our Chairman's savvy enough not to think things might not take a turn for the worse and plan accordingly - however it doesn't mean he necessarily WANTS the worse to happen like some of our fans do.

I couldn't give a shiny $hite what the blue men do, whether they go down this season or next, they are on borrowed time it seems with their points tally and performances each season.
Wigan RLFC have been in existence 139 years, of which they have been in the JJB/DW stadium twelve years. The Blue men have been have been in the Premier League only six years.......I'm sure we'll be reet..!!
One thing's for sure, I won't be praying on my WAFC mat on the last day of the season should they need a win to stay up. Will leave that to you and Conroy.

Funny you mention the JJB thing because we are only here because of the Latics and Whelan's master plan, given how close we were to going out of business. In the same way that the Latics are only in the Premiership because of Wigan RL, as they needed us to get the ground to build up a Premiership operation. Of course, neither set of chip on shoulder, narrow minded fans from both clubs have the mental capacity to appreciate this - or maybe some do and that's the reason they act like they do?

| Quote: wiganrlforever "North Stand - 5392 seats and 21 disabled spaces

That might be how many seats there are, but it isn't necessarily how many are in use for a football (and indeed rugby) fixture for all manner of reasons.
Quote: wiganrlforever "The limited capacity is a standard rule at premier league grounds due to the segregation laws'"
No it isn't. Completely varies from club to club - there aren't any North Stand seats that are lost to segregation because of it being a completely separate stand from the home ones. The only seats 'lost' to segregation are in block ES1, but that's more to do with the numpties that used to inhabit it.

At a guess I'd say it would be better for WRLFC and the town if Tics did stay in the greed league, and theres even a part of me that wants them to stay there. But then I have to weigh that against the thought of seeing the thousands of ex Utd, scouse fans claiming to have never really supported Latics and being able to dust down their respective Sharp and Crown Paints emblazened replicas. At least they be able to wear short sleeve t-shirts around town again thus proudly protraying their red devils and liver bird tats!!
Nah rollocks to 'em greed league!

| Of course the pitch looks good at the moment.
Since we ended our season it's had a pile of manure on it every other week...
