Judas would only cost 13 pieces of silver - shouldn't dent the salary cap that!
Does he play centre!

Talking about Chris Ashton actually. Got no probs with Connolly And Faz went to the retirement village. If Shaun Edwards still had boots i imagine he'd be starting full back at Wasps now
My problem is, I am sick to death with people who harp on about being "through and through", then at the slightest sniff of money jump ship and abandon all morals. I sat at a meal next to Joel Tomkins less than 3 years ago and he was telling us how it killed him watching from the stands as Wigan got battered, having to go and play at Widnes instead etc and how much he'd love a crack at it etc. Now look. Either accept your bleeding mercenary or stick with your club, the thing you've wanted so much to have.
Anywho, I think if we WERE to lose a position, 2nd row is probably the one place im more than happy to do so (Hansen, Hock, Farrell, Tuson, Mossop can all play there) to name but a few.

Kernel, you state your location is Reading. Could you explain why?

JT has made quite a few statements about his love for the game and how he didn't see himself going to play RU due to the nature of the game. I don't think he was playing to the crowd when he said these things but was quite genuine. If he starts coming out with the usual guff of a new challenge and all that I won't believe him. I'd have more respect for him if he just said I am going for the money which IMO he is.

So its ok for you to work in Reading, but its not ok in your view for a Wigan-born rugby player to work elsewhere for better money.

| The search for talent is Wales is excellent to me.
Players to play in a Union pack have to be 5'11" and 20 stone in the front row.
6'11" and 19 stone to play in the 2nd row/flanker which only leaves No8 for the rest. Some lads who are 6'2" - 6'5" and 16 - 17 stone would be very handy for a RL pack. There will be plenty quality players to pick up in S Wales.

| Im glad we have signed up with ISC and Magners, it bodes well for the merchandising side of the club however with regard to the marketing side it would have made sense to have made our/any signings prior to announcing season ticket renewal price structure.
I want to see about 80% of our squad from local and British talent but along with everybody else we need at least one or two high profile signings, not only to bolster the squad and replace outgoing players but it sells tickets. However in the words of IL "there will be no marquee signings".
Starts to make me wonder if IL is realising that he can make more profit after last season, at the forum stating we had made a profit for the first season in a long time. Lets face it we have lost players this season and last i.e. Gleeson, Hoffman, Riddell, Coley, Deacon, O'Carroll and potentially JT, we must be way under the salary cap....

Sorry FT, much though I agree with most of what you say I must point out the flaws here.
Props and 2nd rows - fair enough, that is the "ideal" size.
Flankers and No 8's - effectively fall into your "ideal" category, and therefore will choose RU as their first choice.

It would be OK for him to work in Reading if he had not signed up to work in Wigan for 5 years beforehand.

Weren't the Tomkins brothers born in Milton keynes and raised in Appleton, Warrington ?

| Quote: LovesToSpooge "We'll probably attract those players who are struggling in RU because they don't have the required body shape. I certainly won't be complaining if we uncover a James Graham of our own, which there's every reasonable chance of, seeing as someone of his shape isn't suited to RU in the slightest.
I'd agree the threequarters would be very difficult to poach. But then again you never know. Those two twins at Warrington chose RL over RU because they enjoyed the game more. There's nothing to say that can't and won't happen again.'" If the evans boys become as good as we all hope then i am not optimistic about keeping them long term. Wales RU will more than likely come sniffing for them. I would love to be wrong though.

| Quote: Wigan28/Leeds18 Andy "So not only do we have a player that's going to wind-up the Dire and Whino fans (well until he decides to join his brother), we have someone on the coaching staff as well. Happy days.
It's a nice thought. However, Harris's single-handed successful torpedo-ing of Bradford has wiped his slate clean for most Leeds fans. In fact, in a recent "Leeds Dream Team" type thread he was a pick of many.
Dunno whether Wire fans have mellowed though.
