Exactly, thats why I mentioned the reduced contract money, IL inherited the problem with Fieldens wages and I'm sure will address it next year.

the team voted on the senior players group i.e the 5 captains so I am not too surprised Coley has been picked and Fielden not. The fans opinion of Coley from reading this site appears to be very different from the teams.

Maybe Fielden didnt want to be part of it and just wanted to concentrate on playing this season.

I am happy with the choices. Its not really for us to say who should and shouldn't have been picked, we havn't been with the team doing pre-season.

Theres going to have to be some big calls made at the end of 2010. We have Fielden, Coley and Feka off contract and at least one of those will leave. We then have the likely return of Hock for the 2nd part of 2011 which may mean him or Mossop(if he signs a new deal) moving to prop on a regular basis. We then have Ben davies who i'd imagine will be pushing hard for a first team spot by then aswell as more established guys like Prescott and O'Carroll.

There are also some top quality props up for grabs for 2011 like Luke Bailey and possibly Fui Fui Moi Moi.

I have a feeling it may be Prescott but i'd leave O'Carroll out for this one.

I dont think the captain choice is a reflection of who will definately stay next year, just a relection of who the team want this year to have an influence on the pitch and off possibly going on pre-season training.

O,Carrol misses out. His performance against Wire possibly let him down. Bench is Coley Feka Deacon and Mossop. Pretty strong. Prescott starts

I felt abit for O'Carroll against Wire. He looked to have moved into pole position for a starting spot after a good preformence at Wakefield but he didn't have his best game at Wire and was very easily dealt with by the Wire defence.

He'll be a handy squad player for us this year though.

I feel sorry for him a bit as he outplayed Coley against Wakey. However Coley is known for having a couple of shockers but his defence is by and large good and he adds a bit of weight to the pack. O'Carrol will get his chance as the season progresses. As madge seems to have a no nonse approach to performances, you play rubbish and your dropped!

i would personally liked to have seen fielden rather than coley. I think we will be in for a big year from stu, out of the noble comfort zone for the first time, playing for a new contract, i believe he would have thrived on the responsibility.

its who the coach and team want and what they can see working.Not really what us as fans want. Just because people predict a big year for Stu does not mean that his leadership skills, respect amongst team mates etc are right for being in the leadership group. We on the sidelines know very little about the dynamics in the current Wigan squad. Going off player interviews is unreliable too as everybody puts their best face on for these. I could turn it round asnd say I hope this is motivational in Coley's season and he rises to the challenge.
