Conroy - Being a Latics fan i'm already immune to watching sh*te. Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_36121.jpg

Quote: cadoo "Does tonight just show something about our management?

Why have we been messing about with players like Cameron Phelps when we've got Sean Ainscough?

Why have we been messing about with Players like Tim smith when we have Sam Tomkins?

That rant aside - Well played lads you did us proud. (Although I'm not suprised by this).'"

WD SA and ST; sad fact that they probably wouldn't have been in the side but for suspensions (Mathers and McIllorum). I can only hope that they are given a fair chance when the more established players return.

Its all about hunger, the fact that these boys are local, and not here for a pay day or just to enhance their career. This is what we have been missing a desire to do well for your boyhood club.

We're the first ones to starve, we're the first ones to die The first ones in line for that pie-in-the-sky And we're always the last when the cream is shared out For the worker is working when the fat cat's about:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_12937.jpg

What [ireally[/i impressed me most was watching and listening to Tomkins' post match interview. Ainscough looked like a giddy little schoolboy, which is understandable, but Tomkins looked and spoke very mature; he answered each question thoughtfully and coherently (sp?) and generally articulated himself very well. He also seemed very level headed, which will do him no end of favours IMO. The biggest benefit, or flaw, in a players' game is their attitude - often, some people will sign for a big club (do they come any bigger than Wigan, for a 19 year old Wigan lad, at least?) and think 'yes, that's it, I've made it' and strut around the training pitch. Tomkins strikes me as someone who thinks 'This is the just the begining. Now, I have to work on my game, listen to those around me and incorporate whatever I can in my game that will be of benefit to me and my team.', which should be applauded.

Yes, the young 'uns showed the way tonight.

Well done !

It's also clear that Sam Tomkins is an articulate and educated young man.

We need more like this guy to represent RL for the future.

My highlight of the night from the pair was when they teamed up to stop a Quins try and put their man in touch. Ainscough jumped to his feet, grabbed hold of Tomkins and kissed him on the head whilst screaming encouragment. The pair of them showed a fight and passion in the badge thats rarely been seen over the past few years.

They're young and giftted but more then anything they want to play for Wigan because it's their team. They look like they enjoy every minute and that can only spread to the other players.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled. For 27 - 0 you get a trophy For 75 - 0 you get sod all. Wigan had eight in a row Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg

My lowlight was the MOM interview... but I'll let the bugger off if he carries on in this vain icon_wink.gif

Seriously though, you'd think the club would invest a bit of time in media training for it's players... Tomkins came across very well, but he looks way older than 19 icon_wink.gif

Maybe they would but they never expected Noble to play them icon_wink.gif ...I think Ainscough was just a little surprised and overcome getting the MOM (who wouldn't be?)...as you say let's hope he carries on like this icon_biggrin.gif

"Wigan Athletic - No known famous fans. The town (of Wigan) apparently goes into hibernation when the Rugby League season ends!" Daily Mail Online feature, July 2009 ------------------------------------------------------------- They will not force us, They will stop degrading us, They will not control us, WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS! ............ Wigan RLFC - The Uprising! ----------------------------------------------------------- Wigan footballer Mohamed Diame described the home of mint balls and pies as 'cr**py'. But Tomkins boomed: "I don't want to know what he thinks. I don't even know his name. He only plays for Latics.":16522.jpg

I've posted this previously on here - Sam Tomkins has the potential to be a Wigan superstar.

He is a 19 year old who is articulate, confident, has a great rugby brain and a passion for playing at Wigan - he has coaching badges and goes out of his way to coach in schools.

The question that Wigan should be answering is "how the hell can Wigan have [iNINE[/i overseas players (with most being average at best) when the town has such a rich seam of youngsters who would die to pull on the Cherry & White?"

The Communist Cap - dragging down success and aspiration to the levels of those who cba.:

I think the biggest compliment that you can give Tomkins and Ainscough is that they didn't look out of place at all yesterday, in fact they were two of our best players (the other two being Hock and Fielden).

It was so refreshing to see that level of enthusiasm and skill.

They have earned their place against Bradford and have to be included.
