One Town.. One Team.. One Love.. The future's bright, The future's Tomkins!! Keep Wigan "Wigan" Especially playing at Wigan which is a real home of Rugby League.”QUOTE : Cameron Smith 27/10/09.:

Having checked laterooms.com today a large amount of hotels are already sold out in Manchester , I guess clubs and RFL officials could have Pre booked or could just be a busy time in the city with the long BH weekend

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39110.jpg

Quote: stillinthepast "How would the RL allocate tickets for this, when it as been at Cardiff or Edinburgh (both app 75000 capacity stadiums) it as never been a problem if you wanted to watch all the matches on any given day, you just bought the one ticket.
But the Etihiad only holds 42000,so just as an example what if Wigan played Saints in the first match and then HKR played Hull in the second match, would they have to clear the stadium after each match or as at present issue a ticket for all day. If this isn't thought out properly you could have a situation where half the crowd stay in the stadiun after the first match thereby creating the problem of fans not being able to get in for the next match.
I know this may seem unlikley, but on a June bank holiday weekend with the sun shining the number of people (not only RL fans)wanting to attend may supprise the Authorities.'"

It's actually over 47,000. The tickets will be done the same as they were for the last Magic Weekend.

They only opened the bottom two tiers of the Millenium stadium.

The Millenium stadium holds 75,000, they took away the top tier which holds 33,000. That left 42,000 as the capacity for the event.

It won't be a problem.

Just not interested in the concept full stop.

Bring back playing St.Helens twice a season in the weekly rounds because the derby is getting tired.

the stadium being too full or having to high a demand for tickets is a welcomed problem imo....

no matter how they do it there are going to be people who only want to see their team play... but selling individual match tickets would defeat the whole point of the weekend.

Even if every seat is sold which would be a great achievement its going to be unlikely that the stadium will actually appear full at any point. It is just a regular superleague fixture with not much to play for so people aren't going to be interested who wins.

The RFL have the idea that the weekend is what the fans want. They should send out a questionnaire to every season ticket holder for every club and make it avaiable on line to all other supporters. That way they would have a much better idea of what fans want and I reckon some good ideas on development.
We really struggle to attract support from anywhere other than lancashire and Yorkshire. Expansion to Wales was a real flop so why not encourage a Cumbrian side and take magic up that way? There is already a decent fan base.

There isnt a decent stadium in Cumbria. Or a city big enough to take an influx of 50 thousand+ rugby league fans.

Never been to any of the previous Magic weekends because of costs etc. Seeing as this is so close to home it would be rude not to give it a try. Will only be going on the day Wigan play though.

"Well" I have been to MM in SCOTLAND!!!!!! it was not all i expected, and i was disapointed. People say about traveling 20 mins watching their said team and returning home again. And thats fine. But will you then bring with you the kids, your nan, your mam, and maybe your wife???. Yeah it,s about money, time and having holidays to take (if you work) so do you make it YOUR weekend, or a FAMILY weekend ???? I say "Family" myself. I have yet to go to any Match where one of us in the house did not take a family member or friend with us. Bottoms in seats, means £££££,s on the Gate. And if we are gonna keep it northen, Then whats wrong with going to cumbria ???? they all talk normal, the beer`s cheap, and some of the most hospitable people you will ever met live there. Oh yeah and the mountains "Upps" soz fells are beautiful. And the RFL are now wanting to throw money there. (18 youngsters have signed for SL clubs (scholarships/full time contracts) from cumbria in the last 2 years ) what does that say for a small place wid a big heart xx

I like the idea of a big event like the magic weekend but it doesn't seem very constructive to unbalance the league structure to broadcast our game with half empty stadia. Not enough people want to watch 3 or 4 games in a day which would keep the stadium full. Small stadiums don't work with the current ticketing system. It's more productive to use this as an international fixture. England vs Exiles is great, but if you push 7 or 8 games down peoples throats over 2 days the boredom factor kicks in. Anything becomes boring if you watch enough of it, no matter how good it is. This makes it impossible to present the games in front of full houses. If this 2 day festival must contnue why not have international fixtures featuring the home nations and others with England v Exiles headlining one day and the world club challenge headlining the other. I realise the world club challenge would dilute the england team by 1 or 2 players but it's a time for trying new players anyway.
