RICHARDS IS SUPERMAN!!!! Wire_91 wrote:its your first final in about 8 years and now you ravin and rantin about it F**k off, and ill be going old trafford tomoz cheering on the saints and ill be writing on this forum givin you loads of shi* when your drying you eyes and the wire fan will be here handing out the tissues in the thousands, thats if you do take that many fans cause now it looks like its your fans who have jumped on the band wagon now your in a final, this time last year there was only 1000 people in the jjb and now its fillin up cause youve won the league hahaha proper true supporters you are:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_27542.jpg

Quote: Dai Jones "Fabulous occasion today felt like the 1990s all over again and a credit to the sport.
Interested in the narrative that we had two chances and took them and Saints bombed 5 or something. Firstly, when has opposition misfortune been acknowledged by Sts in recent narrow squeak years? I would argue KPP dropping the kick he won when it was easier to score and an unmarked Marshall dropping a quick fire French pass were spurned opportunities too before we get on to the defensive efforts of French, Shorrocks x2 and Farrell as well as the blatantly forward pass for the second half Welsby “opportunity”

Sts have been and still are a champion side but Wigan were better and wanted it more today. Simples & Bravo'"

If KPP would have caught that kick and passed to Ellis, if Marshall would have caught that French pass and raced to the line and if Wardle would have caught that French pass we’d have won by 24!

Love the saints fans defence online it’s either - “rubbish game and Wigan were slightly less rubbish”, “refs fault didn’t get singleton off and didn’t get loads of 6 agains”. “we take our chances and we win easy” or “if Walmsley and Batch play we win easy”

They can’t seem to comprehend that the super duper world champs who beat Penrith in a friendly in front of 10k in the preseason challenge lost to Joe Shorrocks playing 6.

How many Saints players would make it into Wigans 17? Maybe Welsby on the bench ?

Just as well they didn't, I had Wigan to win by 8. icon_biggrin.gif

People clearly being selective with what they are reading from my posts.

“Wigan had a good game plan, Peet did his homework. They played at a good intensity. We were second best for a lot of the game”

Not sure why the above comments are being ignored.

All I pointed out was the number of clean line breaks we made. Bearing in mind we’ve been largely awful since the WCC then I was surprised. I can’t recall the last time we broke an opponents line so often.

If Warrington have half those chances next week then they will be good enough to convert them.

I said last night that Shorrocks was outstanding. Smithies was also the best forward on the pitch.

With a full team out it could well be Wigan and Warrington in the Grand Final this year.

This is the end of an era for Saints and we are seeing an ageing team devoid of pace and a couple of greats not performing.

It’s Sport, it happens. I’m a Utd fan so I’ve seen it happen with my own football team.

Congratulations to Wigan. They defended well and had the better performers on the day.

I thought at halftime that if you scored first in the second half that you would kick on and win.

We played it really well in the first 10 to 15 minutes of the second half and once King scored I was genuinely relaxed in that we would go on and win. Our defence and work rate was first class. If Field had played behind that pack yesterday he would have ripped holes in your defence. If Lomax had played behind that pack he would have done likewise. Hopefully you have an ageing pack whilst ours is coming of age.

Peet and his coaching team did an excellent job in preparation for yesterday.

I still think that Saints are the team to beat this season however, if we play you again with the same intensity we will have a good chance of turning you over particularly if Field is the 13.

I agree with your comment re Wire. It’ll be very tough next week without Cust, Cooper and Field with potentially Singleton and Farrell joining them on the sidelines.

What did Farrell do?

Add King to that list. Is he able to play against his parent club

Kaide Ellis had a top game and is definitely edging towards the wanting to keep him list. I’m hoping we get to see him start now Cooper is injured and maybe see him get extended minutes. He looks ready for a bit more responsibility.

Excellent performance, tactically spot on. The defense at the beginning of the second half was brutal.

For the first time in a long time it was a top team performance from everyone in the team, no one had a bad game. Think the MOM could have gone to anyone really.

I’m not so sure about it being an end of an era, you deservedly beat Penrith and I think you’ve had a bit of a hangover after that. You have also been that far ahead you can afford to drop off and still win the title. If I was a betting man I’d still pick you to win the grand final.

It's not being selective at all Stu. You're offering qualified praise of 'you played well but we should have beaten you'. On a day you were comprehensively outplayed you would surely expect that to be challenged, wouldn't you?

If I might be allowed to answer the question I asked earlier (but you haven't answered) you would credit Saints (not qualified credit) if you'd won in the manner we did yesterday and quite rightly so.

Agreed, we now need to see Mago step up, if he can't put in a better performance than Singleton yesterday he's surely gone, Wakey would seem the ideal game to give Hill a first team run out.

He had a decent game yesterday Ellis.
Always looks like he can do more minutes. He will probably have to over the next few weeks.
