I'd love to know what part of his performance last week warranted dropping from the 17.

Baffling selection. Pig-headed doesn't even nearly express my opinion of this incredible choice of line-up. Is it 'play well and you're dropped' for some players?

Time to move on for his career and his International credentials yes, sadly I agree.

What is even sadder is the club seem content to limit his opportunities and stall his development and that looks like continuing into next season.

It's clear he's not wanted by Wane. His bigging up of Lewis Tierney the other day makes me think he's being promoted to understudy for Sam Tomkins next year and Hampshire will be thrown on the full back scrap heap by moving on to play in his weaker position (in Wanes mind) of stand off at another club.

It's rare that it gets to the point that a teams own fans believe a promising youngster should leave for his own good.

Hampshire looks like a real star for the future he has all of the required attributes required to make it big time in SL, but IMO he is a half back without a doubt and not a full back?

Incomprehensible! If Powell, Smith or Williams fail to impress (yet again), Wane needs to go! Rocky was Wigan's best player last week and deserves to be in the 17 if not starting.

Just hope SW knows better than a lot of Wigan fans on this issue. I just think we should give Williams(at 7) and Hampshire (at 6) a chance, with Smith as bench hooker.
Time for Sam Powell to step up to the mark - but will he ever playing out of position as bench hooker?

I really rate Hampshire, a few people won't agree with me but I'd love to see him and Williams at 6 and 7 next season, with Smith a replacement 9 or leave all together, a few players seem to be in Wanes clique and some who can't do anything right like Hampshire, Charnley and sometimes Gelling

Rocky made the first try, scored the third and made Gelling's try with a jink and then a pass. Something that Smith would never do. His pace is phenomenal - as has been demonstrated on several occasions this year.
But just heard he is "out injured". How come he was in the 19? Not another "training injury"?
Was he wrestling with Wane who then showed him who was was in control?!!

Did Eddie just mention he's injured?

We'll have to leave the debate for another day if so.

I've bagged Joel recently but he's been superb tonight. Massive difference from last week when he was ambling back to scrums.

we are just coming up to the top 8. Now is not the time to tinker, but with a week off next weekend, it is time to continue to get the 1st choice partnerships to gel.
Apart from the discipline, this was a lot better.

Wane got it right - but I still feel it is worth trying Rocky on the bench instead of Powell.

Woeful from Hull. Average from Wigan. Williams and Smith offered very little again.

First half Hull were playing a semi opposed training run. Second half they had a bit if a dig but once again we dropped off to below average.

Only positives for me was Locky showing a bit of form, Tomkins improving and out outside backs, but again you have to put it in context of the terrible Hull display.

Doing us a disservice there Jonh I think. We've been dire most of this season but that was much better and I actually thought Hull threw plenty at us especially in the first half. The desire in defence was much improved and there was far more vigour carrying the ball round the middle.

Gellings return to form was great, Bowen continued to pay back his Saints performance, Bateman, Williams, Joel and Lockers were excellent I thought but the biggest plus point above all was Ben Flower. He had his best game of the year running with purpose and throwing himself in to tackles like the old Ben Flower.

We can still improve in many areas but that was much better.

If you thought they threw it at us in the first half you were watching a different game to me.

Seriously thought they were pathetic in the first 40, they had a dig at the start of the second and towards the end other than that they were terrible.

But he did that the other week against Salford and it was a complete mess and didn't work, swapping half backs round mid game and moving people between 2 or 3 different positions. I'm not Powell's biggest fan but he does a job in games like tonight and means we can spell McIlorum. I'd be happy if we go with McIlorum playing the full 80 against Saints, Wire and Leeds with Powell getting half an hour against the others.

Williams and Smith did a lot better tonight, mostly due to a woeful Hull performance but also down to a much improved performance from the pack. Not the sort of game to judge them on because it was too easy but all of the props at least showed some willingness to roll their sleeves up and get through some work - struggling to see Mossop getting back in now tbh. They need to show they can do it against the top sides who actually put up some resistance now.

The faux hysteria because Hampshire wasn't selected tonight is a bit OTT. FWIW I would've played him at 6 tonight but in all honesty this stage of the season isn't the time to be experimenting with different combinations. If there's one criticism of how Wane has dealt with Hampshire it's that he should've had more game time at 6 earlier in the season, but even then he's played 15 times this year, which isn't bad for a 20 year old whether it's in his "preferred" position or not. It's also worth remembering that Hampshire was only in last week because Bowen was rested, not dropped, and was in great form prior to that.

Hull were bad, but thought we played a big part in completely stifling them. Some great defence.

We usually start the season well for the first half, then drop off for the second, before picking it back up for the playoffs. Looks like we might well be about to pick it up again.
