Going over old ground here, but I fundamentally disagree with his logic and reasoning.
SL and the game needs a shot in the arm, but if they think updating a few badges will provide a boost, then I really despair. In fact it sums up British RL perfectly - they don't want to really tackle the big issues.
A weak on field product, substandard grounds, weak leadership & a tin point production from Sky all do more damage to the game than the what the Wigan badge looks like imo.
They can sugar coat and avoid the uncomfortable truths as much as they like - the real and only way to grow the game is to improve what happens on the field. That will never happen if the RFL won't get serious about bringing standards up and demanding more of the club's on the playing front. It's not ok to have a dilapidated ground, no academy or to reject increasing the cap to fit in with the current going rates for too RL players.
If every game was like the one on Friday, then the greater the chance we have at bringing in new fans and getting them to stick around. You only need to look at the NRL to see the shot in the arm it has had off the back of improving what happens on the field.
You can put the world's best logo on a pile of horse cr@p and it will still be horse cr@p.

| So is this how it ends then?
We all just moan and end up inevitably accepting something that 99% of the fan base does not like and does not want?

I wouldn't say it ends here, ultimately people will vote with their feet.

Just seen the pictures of the new off field kit it looks good. I'm still not happy with the club reasons for the change of badge.

| At first I did not like it! but then again look at the club badges in The NRL, they are similar! and accepted! I do like the old borough emblems and motto's but do they unfortunately mean anything to the young of today, the future Fans?
What makes me laugh is the mockery on another clubs site/forum across The Hill! the way they are mocking it, and they have had a figure which looks like a child may have drawn it, and have had it for years! if anything looks a joke!
The St Helens Star, have a great photo from last night, showing the New Warriors Logo lit on the side of the totally wicked stadium lol

It’s the thing that’s making me laugh. I read about social media and people are taking the mick, yet they support Leeds, Saints, Wire, Huddersfield etc. It shows how things will blow over when fans of those clubs have forgotten that their own club badges are of a similar ilk.

| The thing here is what do Wiganers and what do the club think their club is and what is at the heart of its identity ?
They've chosen to put the warrior (and not a particularly good one) front and centre rather than Wigan. But it's an, at best, unloved name and ignores the strength of the brand, namely the Wigan bit. It's bonkers if you ask me.

Just how did the club select which fans to involve?
For me it’s more annoying that the club appear to of cherry picked some supporters but the identity of the club deserves greater transparency and wider engagement.

| Now I’ve got used to it and the reasons have been explained by Rads. I’m slowly becoming more on board.
So good to see the club moving forward and investing in the future (French and Bateman etc) in a time where we couldn’t blame them for scaling back.
The new training gear looks really really good.

It's good job you are a moderator or else everyone would rip you to pieces. They dare not now as you could wield the big stick on them.
Personally I am an old fogey who likes nothing more than cherry and white kits and traditional things like "Wigan RLFC" but I can see the need to modernise and move with the times. As long as we have players of the calibre of French, Hastings and Bateman wearing the shirt and badge I can live with it. I feel sorry for Lenagan who after putting a lot of money into the club sees nothing but complaints from the fans. He must shake his head and wonder why he bothers.

| In the report on Granada, Kris Radlinski says that he could not care less what people say.
Just about sums up his arrogant attitude not only to the club's supporters, but to the people of Wigan.
And why is there a deadly silence from Ian Lenagan on the badge, re-branding or the signings of Singleton and French.
Not a chirp from him since the Latic's went into administration and it was said he had made a offer of some sort.
Anyone would think that Radlinski was now the owner with all the spouting he is doing!

Play with matches and you get burnt.
IL has done far more good than bad for this club, but the bad that he has done has usually been catastrophic.

| Lenagan/Radders have done more good than bad I agree and last time I looked we was top of the table after beating stains.
I trust them to look after Wigan Warriors more than any keyboard warrior .If you notice it has been said the old crest might be used on a heritage game as a special one off (I know it will be a good selling point) but look at it this way the club needs money and your support not derision at every turn.
We do not own the club we support it as I have for over 50years through s*it times through great times but I am still here, its in our blood you see.A new crest does not define my supportI just support.

| The irony is that we’ve put out a new badge trying to move the sport and our club forward but in the same 24hrs voted not to let the fastest growing team in an international city with unbelievable potential back into Super League.
Chances are now SL will promote a stagnant club like Leigh/Featherstone. How glamourous.

| Lenagan has got some things wrong for sure but my word he’s got more right and a lot of his decisions have been spectacularly right. I believe he’s an absolute legend of this club and I shudder to think where we could’ve been without him. It doesn’t mean you back every call he makes regardless of you being in favour or not but he deserves masses of respect.
The club we support today compared to the one he took over is chalk and cheese. I’m not chuffed with the badge but they’ve rebuilt a lot of our tradition and have constantly pushed our heritage in various ways. The pushing of the youth system gives everyone great pride. To see so many players come through and debut in his time has been my biggest highlight.
In short, I’ll forgive him for changing our badge and see how it plays out.
