| Im absolutely gutted.
He was my favourite player in his time at Wigan, one of my hero's due to his passion for the club.
Hopefully we can all remember him in the right way at Old Trafford.
RIP Terry.
Let's win the GF for him.

| I don't mind admitting I am in tears at the moment.I knew him off the field through the work he did with the Butterflies Children's charity. He was a really decent bloke.
On the field he never took a backward step and will always be one of my favourite players.
My thought go out to all his family and freinds
RIP Terry

| Just heard this on the Radio, what horrible horrible news. I'm shedding a tear as I write this.
One can't imagine what he was going through, RIP Terry, peace be with you, and with your family.
Totally shocked.

| A Leeds fan in peace here,
I don't normally use words like shocked or stunned because I think they're over-used but I really was shocked by the news when I heard it. To think of such a tough but great player like Newton feeling he has to resort to this has really shaken me to be honest. It probably shows that despite rugby league players toughness and occasional "supermen" attributes they aren't "supermen" but normal people who have as difficult a life as anyone else. Such a waste of a life.
Fortunately, rugby league is pretty good at rallying round at moments like this so hopefully his family will receive all the support possible, but still thoughts and condolences to his family and friends.
I know Wigan wasn't his most recent club and all the club's message boards will have a thread about it but he's a Wigan legend so thought I'd post it here.

| Tragic news my thoughts go out to his poor wife, kids and parents. What a terrible waste of life from somebody who still had so much to offer the game of rugby league.
Please let him be remembered for the right reasons he was a fantastic player one of the very best.

| The kind of player I always liked. Hardworking, tough, determined, put his body on the line and a 100%er.
An absolutely tragedy that someone so young thought death was a better option than life. My thoughts and condolences to his family and friends.

| Tragic day. I felt for Terry, barrie n Brian commenting on the news, they all looked devastated and close to tears but handled it brilliantly. O'conner said he only spoke to Terry yesterday talking about meeting up next week.....
RIP Terry - fantastic, no compromise player

| Seems there is abit more to Terry's private life than just being banned from RL - according to Sporting Life his marriage was breaking down and that took him deep into depression.
True or not, it really is a incredibly tragic day for Wigan RL and for RL but more importantly the people who knew him best, his family and friends. I feel extremely for his two daughters whom he doted on.
RIP Terry.
You put the Warrior in Wigan Warriors.

| The news of Terry taking his own life is still something I can't quite believe. I didn't know him personally and never had the chance to meet him but to me and my wife he will always be forever in our memories for his efforts on the field in the cherry and white.
On the news breaking the shock was incredible but soon after we both ended up talking about a game at the DW (JJB back then) in which Terry ended up with the ball in his hands at around the half way line and clear field in front of him to the try line. Neither of us can remember the game or the opponents but we can both picture the look on his face as he ran towards the south stand. He looked left and right for support but was on his own as he ran towards the line with the chasing backs close on his heels, at that moment everyone in the stand seemed to be willing him towards the line, I even remember beckoning him towards me as he pinned his ears back and went for it. He was caught close to the line but his strength and, as I've thought about it, the will of the crowd got him over the line. He celebrated right in front of us, to the left of the posts and made it a memory that I will never forget.
Sport can be so inpersonal these days but players like Terry who wore their heart on their sleeve and gave their all for the club made us all feel that we, as fans, were in the game as well. What he felt, we felt too.
Apologies for the long post but I just had to share this.
Terry - Many thanks.
My deepest sympathys to his family and friends.
