| Predictable.......Really?
Out enthused..........really?
This is a team emancipated by injury, blooding youngsters against hardened SL and ex NRL players.
Jesus it stings losing against that lot, but bloody hell im still proud.
It is so easy to point the finger but there is no value in it. We fought till the death and we not out the game until the hooter.

Never once said out enthused. I thought the effort was good.

So if we win every home game gates will go up? Better tell Mr Lenaghan.

| Apart from the start to the second half I thought Wigan looked the more likely team to win. If I was a Wigan fan I wouldn't be upset with that display. What was strange was your supporters being led out of the South stand.

| Quote: Cherry_Warrior "Or........... Saints came here with a better game plan and executed it well. Wilkin and Wellens were superb.
Don't be so bitter, They deserved it, we didn't do much wrong. Saints just wanted it more on the day and got the breaks they needed to score. If every game was perfect they would all end 0-0.'"
The teams were evenly matched in the first half and Saints were better in the 2nd for a good 25 mins but still showed no sign of getting over the line or scoring until we gave two penalties away. One for two points and one led to a six point try. In close games things like that decide the result and it is not bitterness pointing these things out.
On another day Saints first try would have been ruled forward, Burgess try would have stood and Matty Smith would have kicked both goals. Had any of those happened today we'd have either drawn or won and had we done so no one would give a toss about that 25 minutes of pressure Saints had with so little reward and instead it would have been seen as epic defense. To the victor the spoils but that doesn't alter what turned the game.
I bet Wane has a few words to say about both penalties and won't be putting the loss down to Saints better game plan!

| Out enthused..yes..easily..
Poor ball retention (Hughes usually) Poor discipline (most)
Saints had as many out and lost their king pin early..
Yes it hurts.
Poor show from the lads.
Kicking was awful..etc

| That was a good hard game of rugby and we lost. That's the end of it really. A few 50/50 calls went their way in 1st half but overall I can live with that. Our 'predictable' attack has scored more than everybody else in the league and defensively, we're not far off!
I think we are above where I expected us the be when the season kicked off and to be still in the top 4 after the run of injuries we've had is more than acceptable. Let's just be honest, Saints are a much stronger side this year that they have been for a while and but they only did us by 4. With MM & Faz back we can go up a gear where I'm not really sure saints have any more to give than they gave tonight.
I hate losing against them but I'll sleep ok!

Get some bodies back and I agree we will be in with a real shout come the play-offs.
At the moment we look dis-organised at key times which I thought cost us tonight.

| Fair play to Saints, very enthused. As I thought we'd struggle to break them down. Turning point for me was after Charnley's first try off the kick off.
Great few carries by Dudson, Flower and Doran, rolling forward and Smith puts in an AWFUL sliced kick.
Still pretty confident we'll get Saints when we need to. Especially if we get some bodies back.
Team tonight vs My playoff team
Bowen Bowen
Charnley Charnley
Gelling Goulding
Sarginson Gelling
Burgess Burgess
Powell Green
Smith Smith
Dudson Taylor
Williams McIlorum
Flower Flower
Bateman Bateman
Hughes Farrell
O'Loughlin O'Loughlin
James Clubb
Crosby Pettybourne
Taylor Joel Tomkins
Doran Powell
Loads of improvement in that team. Game-breaking ability in Green and Farrell.
We have that team out come September we'll be there or there abouts.

Spot on, nothing to be too too concerned about tonight but we do need fully fit players on the pitch soon.

| We do have to get those players back though. As soon as one returns we seem to get another injured. If we continue to go into games with 7-8 missing from our best 17 then we won't win the big games.
Get them back and we are good enough to beat anyone.
Agree with the selection above broadly, I'd have Crosby in preference to Pettybourne.
As for the game. Second half I thought Wigan were running on empty. At 8-16 it looked to me as if Saints would add another couple of trys and have a convincing score. That it ended three trys each with the game won on goals says a lot about our ability to hang in and Saints inability to finish us off.
With all their domination of the game they should have scored far more trys than Wigan.

The turning point was the penalty for lifting. No penalty. No try.

I agree except for Thornley who I'd still have over Gelling. but they have to be up to speed and match fit.
Not for the playoffs but tonight I thought Doran did well for his short stint. In fact I think we would have been better leaving him on.

So... If you played one up rugby how is that not part of your structure during the game? I'm confused...
