Quote: Bilko "Worth pointing out we've played six games and three of them have been against sides in the current top 4. We've played none of the current bottom four. Get past Leeds with a win and our fixture list following that sees us play (current positions) 12th, 11th, 4th (Saints Derby), 13th, 14th, 7th, 11th, 12th.'"

It's not so much who we play that seems to be the problem at the moment, more a case of where. Lets just give up home advantage all season and play every game away. icon_smile.gif

Quote: Arthur Warrior "Finally plucked up courage to watch the Warrington game on tv and Wigan did not play that badly. I think we did enough to beat every other super league team and that performance would have been good enough to beat Leeds who we play next week. Sure there are areas we need to improve on, but don't lose faith. Losing against a very good Warrington team does not make us a bad side. Turn out to support the boys next week and show that the 18th man is fully behind the team.'"

Tha weren't watchin same game as me flower,i thought Wigan were poor,Wires outplayed us in all departments.

I think it's a cunning plan to reach the play-offs in such a position that we play every game away from home.

All the other teams in the Super League look for their match at the DW when the fixtures are announced for a chance to play at the home of the champions and that is all the incentive they need to motivate themselves to turn in a strong performance.

You make a good point Bilko, we too now have played all the perceived top teams and only lost the opener against the Giants whilst beating Leeds, Saints and Wigan.

Our next 6 games are all winnable as we play teams who are currently 12th, 3rd, 14th, 9th, 10th and 8th. Our most difficult game in that sequence is in 2 weeks when we go to the Galpharm. And I am confident we will beat them, by that time we will have Atkins, Cooper and Anderson back.

Couldn't agree more, Wire did outplay us in all departments but that doesn't mean Wigan were poor, just that Wire were better and we are just not used to teams doing this to us recently. Cut out the errors, many of which were forced on us by Warrington pressure, and the result would have been closer.
We will benefit from Amos Roberts being back in the fold and from Finch getting his first run out.

The Communist Cap - dragging down success and aspiration to the levels of those who cba.:

I can very rarely be accused of being overly optimimstic, but I agree with Deano G. I honestly think we will retain the SL title this year.

We are significantly down on players (injury/suspension/??) and it is very early on. We are playing poorly but still scraping wins (Hull).

I don't yet buy this "teams have worked our moves out" stuff.

When MM was brought in, I said it was a gamble. I still stick to that view. However, there is no doubt in my mind that the gamble has paid off. I firmly believe that MM can take us to another title.

Two things; Warrington were missing three internationals (Atkins, LAnderson and King) plus a number of injured rotation players. And talking about disappointment, I could have sworn we have won two cups in two seasons.

Wigan did not play poorly, both teams will improve further and will be both the main contenders by the year end with possibly Hudds as the dark horses.

I dissagree with this part of the statement, Wigan DID play poorly, but I do agree that we certainly will improve, and it's about playing well at the right end of the season. It's a long year, and I for one am not getting hung up about our performance last week, now we have a great game this week to look forward to, to get back on the horse and move on from there. I also agree that both teams should be there or there abouts come the sharp end of the season, and as things settle down for us, we get influential players back, we're still a force to be reckoned with.

So come on, chins up, if we win our game in hand, we are only 1 point behind top spot, and we can claw that back once we've won at the HJ later this year!!! icon_thumb.gif

i do agree, after 6 games last year we had 10 points - we are on 9 points with a game in hand at present which could take us to within one point of the current "champions" as they seem to think they are. jeez.

we have played the current leagues "high achievers" in 4 of those 6 fixtures and have only shipped 84 points in defence in total. if you would have offered me that before the start of the season i would have ripped your hand off and slapped my own face with it in acceptance!

we have leeds away next which ok will be a TOUGH game but after that we have the CC against Barrow where a couple of our better players will no doubt be rested and hopefully if we get through that we have a nice little run home and away in the leage.

Wire have so far beaten saints and us which is of any big concern. wire lost to hudds who we tonked. we deservedly lost to wire and should not have given up the lead against saints if you ask me there is hardly anything in the league at the moment and indeed...

don't panic.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery....... I will look to the moment, and miraculously, the future will take care of itself. Radio 5 Live, Sat, April 14th, 2007,...Dave Whelan, "In Wigan, rugby will always be king" 'I was certain, positive, convinced, and yet..........unsure' 'It's only rock 'n' roll, but I like it' Worry will not prevent destiny from unfolding.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3632.jpg

Quote: Deano G "We lost at home to Wire last season.

There's no reason to panic. We underperformed, we got very little from the officials and Wire played very well and made few errors and still the game was fairly close until near the end.

We have a number of players who are either new and are not yet playing that well and many players out injured or coming back from injuries (I include Amos in that as I am not convinced he is fully fit). We have quality of the likes of Pat and Hock to come into the side in the second half of the season.

There is absolutely no reason to panic. I still think we will retain the SL title.'"

Well said sir !!!!!

All of this is true apart from the first sentence. Wire a still a long way from being champions, and I've seen very few posts from Wire supporters that make any such claim. I think we can claim to be a good side, though, and a genuine contender for champions. Same description applies to Wigan.

Just to re post what many have said and there is zero reason to panic.

ATEOTD Fridays result won’t really influence who wins the GF.

Any one that needs to be reassured only needs to look at the fact we lost to Wire at home last season. Think of how many times under the Noble regime we hammered Leeds and then watched them walk to three successive titles.

Wire, imo, are the form team at the moment but again, imo, we are still the best team in SL and we’ll be there in October.

I'll start panicing if we're outside the top 4 going into round 27 of superleague.

Aslong as were within that top after the regular rounds we stand as good a chance as anybody of lifting the trophy at Old Trafford.
